Poshmark offers an authentication option to sellers (as does Mercari and other similar sites). I try to find bags marked that way. Similarly, there are multiple online authentication services. If you buy a bag, you can submit it for authentication (typically with responses within 24 hours). If it’s not authentic you can report to Poshmark as not being as described and still be within the three day window to “accept” the items
Also- look for bags not easily reproduced. Your run of the Mill fake Louis vuitton and Gucci bags are widely reproduced. If you go online there are many ways to check for items to look for. Ask seller for multiple photos etc and do you due diligence.
Rising Star
I know some people only buy from sellers that look like they are selling from their personal closet. Not foolproof, but they try to avoid shops that are re-selling items they found somewhere else.
I think you don't, unless it's NWT or has a certificate. My strategy is to find multiple listings of what I sorta want and make super lowball offers. Odds are one will bite and I'll get something for half the list price. At some point the discount is so steep that authenticity doesn't matter
