I've been diagnosed w inattentive adhd and general anxiety. I went to my doctor about two years ago and after taking a few tests fit the criteria. I take vyvanse for the adhd and the anxiety doesn't affect me enough to take anything. My attentional resources are the bigger problem. Spending too much time on projects that aren't an efficient use of time, saving things to the last minute, running late to everything, that kind of stuff. It sounds like you're suffering more interpersonally. Aside from seeing a therapist I'd suggest taking improv. Might help you work better on your feet and collaboratively.

I’m starting to realize that a lot of my social anxiety is stemming from being hyper aware of my lack of attention so :( I just got a therapist, I’m going to start working with her to see if I can take a test. Ty!

In the same boat. Thought I had general anxiety my entire life but now as a “successful” adult, I’m still crippled with panic by the smallest things. I also forget what people are saying immediately after they say it to me, it’s awful. Came to realize it’s an executive functioning issue characteristic of ADHD and my entire life started to make sense. Spoke to my doc, she wanted to start me on a low dose of Adderall but I chose to find a psychiatrist first to help manage my other meds (also take an SSRI for depression and xanax for anxiety). Several months later...and I haven’t found that psychiatrist yet because procrastination. There are some really good books on the topic. I found one called Women with ADHD by Sari Solden really helpful, regardless of gender.

There is a really good channel on YouTube for ADHD called How To ADHD, see of you notice any similarities.

The CDC has 6 questions to determine an ADHD diagnoses. Get In touch with a psychiatrist, work through the questions with them as honestly as possible. They’ll have a determination for you in about 10 minutes. Go from there.

I just got tested and have been diagnosed with ADHD. I’ve managed to find a way around it my whole life (mostly depending on others for help) but it wasn’t easy and haven’t really exceeded in anything because of it either. I got by though. Probably played a big part in why I’m a creative. I’m now on medication and it’s only heightened my anxiety x1000. You have to take care of the anxiety first. It doesn’t go away with an ADHD diagnosis or meds. Take my warning! 💀

I feel ya. As a creative my mind’s running 500mph and I’ve achieved a lot of things because of that. But It’d be nice to shut it off when I need it to haha. I’m definitely weary about how meds could affect me negatively so I’ll take it step by step; see if there’s any behavioral exercises(?) I can tackle before meds 🙏

Cont. I never thought much of it throughout school/college since I wasn’t the best student but now it’s getting to a point where I even dread virtual meetings/gatherings because I fear blurting out something off-track or asking some “dumb” questions. Not asking for a official diagnosis from you guys. just wondering if anyone had a similar experience.

Does anyone have any insight as to when things are going to go “back to normal” in California in terms of needing to appear in person for smaller status conferences, hearings, depositions, etc. instead of doing it via zoom? I am permanently remote but a lot of my cases are in courts that are a good 1.5-2 hour drive from me and I’m starting to feel anxious about when I’ll have to start going in person for these types of things because of the distance.

Hi 🐠! Class of 2017 here and found out yesterday that I’m being held back a year (as a 3rd year instead of 4th). I feel totally blindsided / actually cried on the Zoom. I’ve reached out to partner-mentor in other groups and they explained that this isn’t a demotion but an opportunity to have more time to acquire mid-level skills before being thrust into that role & failing. I GET that but I feel this is something that should have been messaged BEFORE the review. Such an erosion of trust. Advice?

If you’ve interviewed via Zoom/WebEx/Teams etc. recently, did you use your personal computer or work computer? My personal laptop is old and the camera is nowhere near the quality of my work laptop. Is it crazy to use my work laptop? Side note - the interview is via Microsoft Teams, which we use in my office for internal communications. I’m comfortable with the using the platform, but have no idea how meeting info is stored.

Hey 🐠! I wanted to share a podcast that I came across this week. It’s targeted towards people who grew up in homes with mental illness. I myself had a mother who was likely Borderline/Bipolar (per a psychiatrist I saw myself - i hadn’t even heard of Borderline at the time). While I have ‘divorced’ my mother, I had a daughter about a year ago my mother has started spinning up again. I went looking for information to validate that I am making the right decision and found this podcast cathartic.
