Doesn’t sound dumb to me. Honestly, the best way is to see a qualified psychiatrist or psychologist for a diagnosis. Even if you don’t have an diagnosable anxiety disorder, anxious feelings can still be very disruptive, and it’s okay to get help. Medication may or may not be right for you, but therapy and mindfulness exercises can also be very helpful.
Agree with ZS - medication only is not the answer. Not only are a lot of the pills used to help anxiety addictive by themselves, you can also learn to rely on a quick fix, meaning that the underlying condition gets worse. It’s best to take the longer (and harder) route and try some cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and even lifestyle changes to nip this in the bud now.
Speaking from personal experience if you have any questions! Good luck 🍀
Not a dumb question...I have been stressed out and have had issues with anxiety and they feel different. Anxiety interferes with my life a bit more, while stress sucks and makes me tired, but i feel like stress is something I can get past. With anxiety, it is hard to see a way past it. I would start by seeing a psychologist and go from there.
If you see a therapist make sure their focus is using cognitive behavioral therapy. I’ve always been a stressed out person but only recently over the past 6 months has anxiety kicked and it’s taken a toll on my body and mental health. I’m still working through it and found a therapist I recently liked after a few failed attempts. Good luck OP
Go to the doctor. He prescribed me low dose SSRIs and they definitely help take the edge off with almost no adverse side effects. May not be what you need but I put off going for years because I for some reason felt I wasn’t being “tough enough”. Wish I would’ve gone sooner.

Yes SM1, that 100% resonates. Stress irritates me while what I think is anxiety, is debilitating. I will make an appt pronto.
Thank you everyone for the responses, support and advice.
OP: if you can live with it reasonably okay, don’t pop a pill. Therapy is better.
Go see a functional medicine doctor. Anxiety usually stems from imbalances in your gut - cleaning up your diet will surely help!!!

I’ll also reiterate that no medication isn’t always the answer. Stepping up the exercise at the same time really helped too.
There’s an inflection point where you will feel physically sick and it will start interfering with your goals
