How do you know when it’s best to stay in your position?

I’m tired of pivoting. I feel like my job has growth potential and I like my company. Also it seems like my company places a lot of emphasis on experience and I can only get that with time.

On the other hand I work on a small team and there is definitely room for improvement. I think the issue is the size of the team? Like, if there were 2-3 more people it wouldn’t be too bad.

I’m conflicted. Thoughts?

This is my exact delima, except I've been in this situation for over a year. I chose to leave for the sole reason of workload overload and not expecting to hire anyone in the near future. After a year, I am burnt out beyond beliefe and was ready to quit with no new job lined up if needed. My new job offered me more money & yearly bonuses for a lower tier job with less responsibility. I know the grass isn't always greener, but when I hit the point of wanting to quit and not have a job period I knew I had to do something.

If you’re happy then I see no reason to leave. If the only problem is the size of the team, then try justifying getting additional heads.

I guess I should mention I feel like I could be underpaid as well? I’m not really sure how to “research” stuff like that?

But you make a good point, I should try to bring that up at my next one on one or review.

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

Today I just signed an offer with a pay increase of 84%. It came after 4 months of job hunt, getting offers and being rescinded, and even 3 companies that rescinded after I signed. Anxiety hit, i cried, lost sleep, dealt with internal struggles, inferiority complexes when I saw peers moving to their second jobs after a mbb consulting / banking role, but ultimately I am so glad that I did not give up on myself. I still have to worry about the visa part, but for now lm gonna relax for the weekend

Hello Everyone. I have been promised an on-site opportunity to Europe in Feb 2022. My visa was also set to be processed but then the company stopped with this and started stating that it is pending for approval from client. It’s been more than 6 months now. Can I anybody help me? Is it realistic to wait for this opportunity or should be changing my company as I am currently in this company only for the sake of on-site which was promised to me

Weighing up a top buy-side offer, but worried about perception on my overall tenure within roles.

May only be in this new ASC role for ~1y (personal circumstances). This would make 3 roles in ~3.5 years ( T2 consulting -> MBB -> buyside) out of undergrad. Long-term want to be entrepreneurial / do early-stage investing (Partner-track at a fund), have clear rationale for previous and future moves.

Is this an issue or am I overthinking? Thoughts?

Additional Posts in Career Pivot

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?
