When every year end we’re told comp next year will be better
When an MD called me "a machine" at EY for working 70 hour weeks and delivering his tech projects as a one person team (that was staffed as three people).
He wanted to keep booking me to do his grunt work, and I am an experienced hire manager. He brought in others for pursuits and made me keep delivery going on what they sold. Saw the writing on the wall.
Yup, I’ve been in this position as well. Doing the work of 3 seniors is not a good use for a Manager
Week 1, project one, the person I was replacing wasn't told I was replacing him until mid-week, and that Friday would be his last day. And he wasn't supposed to tell anyone.
I made it past a year and I'm glad I did because my job before that was also under 2 years, and there were some skills I was getting that I could tell would be useful in my next job search. But I don't think there's anything wrong with leaving earlier if you can tell a story about why you did it and you don't make a habit of it. At least start job searching and see what's out there.

After being told that I’d be a shoe in for promotion at year end, then being told that there were too many people up for promotion but that mid year would be a definite go, come year end- I was told that I’d have to wait until next year because there was just so much competition from people who’d been at the firm longer than me (I’d been there 2 years).
