How do you know when to leave a job?
Background: I was hired as a financial planner, no prior experience and in hindsight I should have been put on a training programme. My company is F500 but my vertical is just 4 of us, the vertical is only 2 years old. There’s no process map, no ready made resources and the back office guy is constantly pushing back. My boss took a chance on me and I’m staying for her, she’s fabulous and someone I aspire to be like. I’m miserable and want to quit but don’t

Know if it’s just the pandemic getting to me and to man up, or if my gut intuition that I’m not going to progress here is right.

I have a history of leaving jobs after 18 months (classic ADD) but this is the first job I’ve really given my all too. I’m scared I’m just running from boredom / challenges again but I’m really getting no support and there’s no structured L&D in place.

Document and communicate some of the challenges to your boss, see if you can get some support from her. And make up some process as you see fit. My job has been like this and took us 2 years to get into a decent place with tools and processes and support.

Not quite. I’m being evaluated by my day job but I’m not able to execute my day job because 1. I haven’t been trained how to do it and 2. I’ve spent time building out all the resources and process I need.

You could argue that I shouldn’t have been doing that work as it’s not my job but... it didn’t exist and I needed it it.

Try thinking whether you would learn anything staying and overcoming those challenges

Ask if she can/will help you get training before you cut bait. Fabulous bosses we aspire to be like are hard to find.

Hi Fishes, Can anyone throw light about Analytics Consulting practice at Tiger Analytics.

Considering to apply there and would like to know growth, learning, wlb factors. Is there a stable leadership and help offered towards career progression. Is there anything that should be taken into consideration/questioned while having a conversation with the panel.

Currently 9.5 yrs in healthtech and LS practice, with exposure to analytics.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD. It’s all very new to me still and my doctor keeps pushing me to go on meds. Does anyone else here struggle with ADHD? How are you able to manage it in the workplace? Did you end up going on meds for it and that helps? Or did you take a non-medicated route? I really don’t want to take drugs if I don’t have to so hearing your personal experiences would be really helpful! Thanks in advance.

Hi all! Does anyone here work in London and if so, would you be up to meet for coffee? I just moved here from Toronto, Canada and would love to meet some fellow women in finance.

I’m being recruited back to a bank I left 6 months ago. Was contacted by a recruiter this week because I had indicated in my exit interview that I would consider a return to the firm in the future. When I left this bank for my current employer… I received a $30k bump. I’ve never been recruited before and am curious what questions I should ask? Is this a good sign? Would it be wrong to ask for an additional $25k to go back?

Was previously working as an advisor growing a nice book and left to move 18hrs away to be close to family. I was pregnant and desperate to take what would move us and now I’m a planner working for FAs and I’m making $130k. Was fine at first while I got thru pregnancy but now I’m not happy & regret accepting the job and pay. I’m supporting others who are making 3-4times my salary. I have 10 yrs experience and CFP, often more than FAs I’m helping. Ask for more $$ or start over being an FA?
