How do you ladies wear designer shoes around the office and to court? I just bought my first pair and after breaking them in, I can do maybe 2 hours max.

Gotta get yourself some Ferragamos. I could run laps in mine they are so comfortable. And that’s across styles...from stilettos to sensible pumps. Worth every penny.

Someone smart once said that shoes should not need “breaking in” and if they don’t feel good in the store, don’t buy them. The best favor you can do yourself is to go someplace like. Nordstrom and try on all the brands and all the heel heights and sizes until you find the size where your toes can spread out. Sometimes we think a Mid-height heel will be easier than a higher one but they pitch our feet forward.

I love my pricey shoes but for the office I buy 50 dollar basic black pumps from banana republic, which are crazy comfortable, and I wear them till they fall apart, and then repeat

They should be comfortable enough to be wearable 6ish hours. Otherwise they’re not worth the money. Jimmy Choo and Stewart Weitzman both make beautiful and comfortable pairs.

Loll yah

Recommend the Donna (classic pointy toe) pump by Prada in the 85mm heel. Can wear them all day. And the leather is soft and beautiful.

Serious (and non-judgmental) question: can you actually tell when someone is wearing a true designer shoe if it’s a basic black or beige pump? I know the flashier/fashionable ones are more noticeable, but I’ve always wondered if you can tell the difference between a $150 heel and a $600 heel when it’s a basic color and style.

Cant do it from a distance. Up close, overall workmanship, leather texture, stitching and sole construction are always noticeably different in high end shoes. Also, any trace of glue is a red flag.

It’s been a while so I’ll plug Sarah Flint again... some of the designs are meh but the “perfect pumps” are literally perfect - designer quality with arch support and sturdy stiletto heels, literally the only pair of heels I can wear for more than 3 hours and I’ve tried them all (Jimmy Choo, Prada, Stuart Weizmann, etc.). Just tryyyy them

Meghan Markle wears them. If it’s good enough for MM it’s good enough for us!

I'm in my 30s, and this holiday and 2020 in general has made me realise that all I have is my work identity (I've lost all my friends and hobbies) and have been trying to fill that void with work.

I've previously tried to go to therapy several times, which usually happens when my depression is manageable (have energy), and not when my depression is at its worse. I guess because of this, I've been depressed for a long time, and thought this was normal benchmark for emotions.

Fellow millennial lawyers: tell me, in general terms, 1 or 2 clients you acquired and how you acquired them. I feel like the suggested strategies for developing business are always the same: network, build your brand (hate this phrase), market yourself on LinkedIn, etc. Does any of this work? Seems to me to that most business development comes from long-standing contacts (e.g. your childhood best friend is now CEO and needs legal services), so I’m curious how other attorneys developed business.
