How do you make time for certifications or studying for GMATs, etc.? Just curious about how all you overachievers approach this!

I currently work 50-60 hrs a week, run a non-profit, and study for the gmat. Its really difficult and you will have to make sacrifices. I try to study 1-2 hrs every week night, and 5-10 hrs total on the weekend. Some weeks are better than others in terms of having time to study and some weeks all I do is study.

Just took CFA II after passing level I in December. It’s a grind, and there’s no magic to it. You just have to want the prospective designation/cert/diploma badly enough that you carve out time for it, sacrificing other things while you do.

For example, I got up an extra hour early to study before work. As I neared the test date, I ramped it up to 1.5-2 hours. I’d study during lunch, review flash cards for thirty minutes while riding the bike at the gym and did at least two hours every night in my office, alone, no distractions. We will see if that actually worked come August, but I felt good that I honestly did everything I could and made sacrifices to get there

Also, don’t rely on the, “ill cram before test date” mentality, it worked for finals in college, it won’t work on a consequential exam. The minute you sign up for the exam, start studying right away. Your first day studying should be the same amount you plan on putting in everyday that you get closer to the exam

Nothing to it but to do it. Make studying and volunteering a life habit.

Hi Fish,
I'm coming up to Visa interview for L1B soon and wanting to get some advice on how to frame my specialist knowledge about internal company frameworks, models etc that we use to guide implementation projects with clients.

As this isn't a specific software I'm finding it hard to summarise how my knowledge of these frameworks/models are specialised.

Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏
