Work from home after you put the kids to bed. I know you may feel like your team wouldn’t be ok with that, but you should ask. I think anyone should be able to understand that and many partners / Sr Managers do that all the time.

I get off at 5 to pick up my 3 year old from daycare. Do regular routine stuff (dinner, bath, bed) and at 8 or 8:30 I work again until 10 or 11. It’s much quieter then, less staff questions and I actually get stuff done.

I have a nanny. It’s not as expensive as you think. We hired my daughter’s teacher from daycare

OP, most suggestions here are good (except hot sexy nanny - that will create more trouble). It depends on the situation. We have no help, a 2 yo and one more on the way. Husband understands the requirements of PA and takes on a lot (also due to his job flexibility) during busy seasons (drop off and pick up). I do what I can and see my baby mostly on weekends. I never go to the office on Saturday and wfh at least one day a week. If husband travels, which sometimes happens, I work from home 3 days a week. The rest of days, drop off, office by 9, leave at 5 for pick up, get back online by 830 till whenever it takes. I am still puttin 10 hr days without a problem. Sure, there's not a lot done around the house. Off season, husband and I take turns with drop off and pick up and if needed I get back online in the evening. Disclaimers: I am in tax. Firm encourages flexibility. Team and management are understanding. I don't know how this will work with 2 kids. We'll probably sleep less.

Thank you everyone, i feel encouraged by your input. I work at home after putting my son to bed @ 7:30pm. I just miss out on very important onsite meetings and feels like I'm the odd one out. Makes me feel guilty for having kids because the rest of my team have 0 kids. Associate -Director level. I never thought having kids will be this tough, I was raised outside of the US and my parents had it easier as there was a lot of help.

Nanny or au pair

In your case, if no one can be flexible, get help. Find either someone full time, or someone that can pick up child, feed, and babysit until one of you comes home. One mgr had a girl helping her, 4 hrs/day (530 pm to 930pm) and that included dinner and bathing amd putting baby to sleep. Look for options and don't be scared to ask around for suggestions - your team may be more flexible than you think, or your wife would be more than relieved to have someone to count on at home in the evenings. Good luck.

OP, I feel guilty for sometimes barely seeing my child. As parents, we do our best. If my firm wants me, they will work with me. If not, my family comes first. Luckily, it's been working out.

Had a referral and HR phone screen for S&O Senior Manager position at a small Chicago based tech start up. Call went well and they asked my salary expectations and I mentioned $180K. Recruiter said that far exceeds their pay bands but would check. He just reached out and said “there is still a large gap in comp expectations. Despite that, are you still interested in the opp? If so let’s have another quick call to recalibrate”….what should I say on this call? Should I budge or is this a tactic?

New to freelance: 40 hours/week in contract but put on a high profile project that requires weekend work or overtime. Bill? If so, how would you go about it since the contract is 40 hours/week? Should I just include it in the invoice/timesheet or should I also plan to have a conversation with my supervisor or HR or Accounts Payable beforehand? Also keeping in mind that I hope to get contract extended, which is in my contract [tentative].

How do I pick the best airline and hotel chain for reward status? I'm about to start traveling a lot more next year, and I don't have any real strong loyalties. I live in the north-east in a mid-sized city, and will be traveling mostly in the north-east. My airport is primarily served by American, Delta and Southwest, but isn't a hub for any airline.

Screen sharing with an ultrawide / 4K monitor - what’s everyone’s experience like? In the past I tried to screen share with a 1440p monitor and people would complain my screen was too small so I have a secondary 1080p monitor that use exclusively for screen sharing. I’d love to move to either an ultrawide or just upgrade the 1080p monitor to a 4K one but am worried I’ll have the same issues it appearing small on the other persons end. Anyone have any suggestions?
