How do you manage to keep track of so many moving parts every day? My memory outside of work is starting to suffer because of it. This is an overwhelming part of the job I wasn’t really expecting.

I call it "downloading to exo-memory" because then I don't have to keep track of everything in my head. It can get to be too much pretty quickly otherwise.

Things like this were just part of the growing pains for me when I was first getting started. I've learned a lot about myself over the years, and I've been able to balance my work in a way that allows me to take better care of my personal life. You'll come to learn what works for you with time

Obviously, some jobs and workplaces are more demanding than others but developing your own way of dealing with this issue is simply part of establishing a healthy work-life balance. It might just be that you're been overworked at your current place and might have to look for other jobs that won't be as overwhelming

What's your current job like? What about it do you think is contributing to your memory suffering?

Keeping really open communication with all the members of your team is absolutely crucial. It's possible that you're trying to remember everything on your own (which is too much to handle) where it might be a good plan to discuss job duties with your colleagues so you aren't overwhelmed. That might be helpful.

Might sound like a dumb question but are you getting enough sleep? Short-term memory is usually one of the first things to go if you are sleep deprived and it's not something you can "catch up on" by like sleeping 12 hours on the weekend or something. Really needs to be a priority

I hate Texas, moved here since July and haven't had good luck so far. Changed apartment twice and all unites are noisy (either construction or upstairs neighbor noise). I have no friends here and the summer here is just too hot for me to bear. Can't wait to move back to California but wondering what keeps people happy here in TX?

Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox. I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Please fill out this required field’ when all the fields are entered already (I have checked so many times, and filled the form from scratch several times too). Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?

My boyfriend of a year got a DUI this weekend and has had drinking problems in the past. He fully admits he is an alcoholic, and will do therapy/go to AA moving forward. My therapist suggested I be a “computer program running in the background” and essentially leave him to allow him to work on himself. This is obviously a really hard decision, and I feel like I should listen to my therapist, but my heart is pulling me the other way. Anyone else been through something similar or have advice?

Need advice on what to do when you have a new partner and feel like it’s already not working out? I feel like I have to micro manage them or be their manager in general to make sure they get what we need done. But that is not my job. We should both on top of our tasks individually. If I don’t say something to them it seems like things don’t get done. Which in the end can make me look bad. Also realizing we just don’t have the same taste in things which will effect our work. Idk am I being crazy?

Thinking about investing in real estate but I’m super new at this and not sure where to get help. I saw a few apt/townhomes for sale in a prime location in my city. They’re around $110-$200k each and most over 1k sq ft. I’m thinking of getting one and turning it into an Airbnb. HOA and tax are a bit pricey (adding an extra $700-$1k/mo). Would this be a good investment?

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I am EOR on a number of structures in development, I manage EITs and Drafters (within projects; I'm not a supervisor), and am doing a lot in general. I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?
