Well if you are not too happy there as well then you need to switch jobs.

Sometimes projects that you hate, teach you something different than those you liked. Hang in there. Though because fruits won’t be able to be picked after the engagement ☹️ but keep reflecting and be self aware

like

Speaking from experience, I worked with a horrible manager last project. But I learned more importantly - how I don’t want to lead, how management style and chemistry between teams is so important, and I learned to stick up for myself, professionally

like

There is something to be said about making lemons from lemonade however if you really dislike the project- talk to your coach or an exec that makes sense for you (in your capability, on your project, etc) . If you dislike the project that much, chances are you won’t be successful in the long run, and nobody wants that.

Sometimes, the ‘how’ matters more than the ‘what.’
How can you and the team make it more interesting? Tip #1 is to tell others what you want to learn and experience. Try and tell us how it went

like

See what you can do to learn something and use the experience to grow your skills in a direction you want your career to go. Chat with your CL and see if there's anything that can be done to make it different. Is there another area of the project that you can get involved in?

Basically, what can be done to make the best of it? In the interim, talk to your coach and figure out a way to do something different when the contract is up so you aren't included in the extension. You'll want to have another engagement lined up, so you'll need help from RM as well.

Resource management.

I hate my job. Back to back to back deals this month. The client is so frustrating to work with. Also, other partners throwing a bunch of securities filings at me that need to be filed asap to just add to the pile. Wasn’t even hired as a securities attorney. A bunch of other partners giving me a bunch of BS one off assignments too that they need in a day or 2. I spend more time trying to jump between assignments than I am actually working. Screw this

You are absolutely going to see a range based on agency and media vertical. At the AD level, there should be the ability to lead a client engagement and supervise a few analysts.

In most cases the technical skills would be uber fluency in Excel and some of SQL, SAS, Tableau/Quik, Python, etc. Fluency in one type of media and working knowledge of another. A working knowledge of statistics and ability to do in depth analysis (solve unknown problems)

You will see some ADs who have come from client side or strategy roles (or even media roles) without the technical chops. It is what they make of the role and the team they are surrounded by - it can be good if they empower their team or it can be a disaster.

I messaged a client to make sure she got her holiday gift... she immediately replies and in the same message she says: “Thank you! You shouldn’t have. Also, my Christmas gift to you was not ever lowering your rate and renegotiating. We do need to talk 2021 though... scope changes.”

😂😅 Happy Holidays!

Just heard back from a company I applied to (no offer, just let me know about range) and their pay for a creative project manager is $48k. That's a joke. But the company is amazing and I would love to be a part of their team because of the work that comes out of it. Any ideas on how I can negotiate? Or if I can negotiate at all??

Fishies - I need advice.
One thing that I’ve been told is that I lack industry knowledge. I am 1.5 year in, I am campus hire, I’ve done exceptionally well in everything except knowing all the details about my client. I’ve done a different industry on every project.
What can I do to combat this? Should I be industry agnostic and focus on functional capability or a specific technology (easier to learn)?
