How do you negotiate a salary bump after only been at your company for 5 months? I already had a mid year performance review and got 3.5 out of 4 and manager is very happy with my work.

Seem kind of quick to ask for a pay bump. One nice mid year feedback does not mean you should get a pay bump. 3.5 out of 4 is getting you job done. Are you exceeding you job or level performance? If you are, why aren’t you a 4. You should sustain a 4 for the year before talking about a pay increase. You should talk to your manager on how compensation and annual raise are determined at your company. Ask him how pay increase is tie to rating and performance. Approach it as you want to learn the process at your company.

I was told I didn’t get a 4 because I was still in the training process. The performance review was done 3 months into my role so fairly new. Manager mentioned I was setting the bar high and really killing it.

Do you have a reason to believe your market value has increased?

I asked for a raise about 6 months into my current job. The reasons I gave were that in those 6 months:
- I finished my master's degree
- I was being actively recruited by two former bosses/colleagues and they were offering me more money
- I was a top performer and was able to outline specific things I had done, outside of my normal job description, that made a measurable impact on the organization

Despite all of that, they ended up saying "no for now" and then moved me into a more "strategically important role" with a title change but no salary increase. 🫠 So now I'm interviewing elsewhere. Of course, your organization might say yes. I have advocated for myself to get an off-cycle promotion and pay raise at a previous company in my first year and it was approved.

Hi, I am an expat living in France and working as an IT consultant. I got an experience here that recruiters insist on disclosing my current salary. Is it a norm in France? Do you reply how much you earn? To me it seems absolutely inappropriate and irrelevant. I can respond what are my future salary expectations. I refuse to tell how much I make now, and then recruiters say that they can't proceed with my application without this information. WDYT?

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

I have two job offers for a design intern role at 2 top design agencies - one in SF, one in NYC.

SF job:
+ pays a lot more
+ tech clients (i want to be in tech after)
- wont sponsor visa
- strict NDA so i cant put in my portfolio

NYC job:
+ more interesting projects for my portfolio
+ product design role
+ will sponsor visa
- pays less

Considering rent in both cities, I feel $$ is a factor.

Should I tell NYC job about my other offer and negotiate salary? Any advice on how to approach?
