He’s closely involved in the product build, and given the extreme hierarchy practiced at McKinsey, often shuts down my product thinking/ideas. Why is every single product manager job description some eye rolling template of roadmaps, OKRs, GtM, vision blah blah BS, but then every org is using Product in a different way, and the job is nothing what was advertised?

I have been a Sr Product Manager/PM/PO for over 15 years, and I am finding it impossible over the last few years to find a role with an organization that actually uses Product management concepts regardless of how many PMs/Directors of Product they have. My current company just hired a VP of Product Management to whom I had to explain the differences between strategic and tactical work.
Does anyone have any ideas of different careers I might try outside of PM work?

Curious if anyone has started doing in-person meet-ups. For eng/product/design I feel that it would be good to do occasional in-person “offsites” at the office or a wework for collaboration sessions, or just to work together every once in awhile. Has anyone started doing this? Since people are remote and spread out across the US, it needs to have justification but how do you justify “face time”/“collabs” - should it be tied to very specific projects?

I’m currently an associate product manager and have been for a little over a year. It feels like I check all the product manager boxes and have really learned the ins and outs, I now own an entire feature and i’m the only one who owns it. It’s a very large feature that will probably be worked on for at least the next 2 years. Should I be expecting the PM title soon? should I expect it now? My day to day is the exact same as other PMs
