Take breaks take pto. Let go of the workaholic culture with romanticized burnout.
Stopping to go look at the sun for ten minutes doesn't make someone a bad employee. That shows me a person who knows when to stop and recharge.
Listen to your body. If it's telling you it's done, it's done. Give it something different to look at or think about.
I did a very helpful training that helps you become more intentional with your time.
Set a timer for 5 or 10 minutes and stop thinking.
Personally, I like to look up Binaural Beats on YouTube. They help alot.
Also, there's no shame in a 20 minute power nap!
Looking at the sun for more than 10 minutes can be dangerous to your health. Do with that information what you will 😉
Jokes aside — all are great suggestions.
One thing I find particularly useful is rooting the things I do in how it benefits me (to the point about being selfish). Try to focus on what you get out of the work you do (how it helps you) instead of what your company gets out of the work you do. The 2 aren’t mutually exclusive, so if there is no unplugging and taking time away from work, try to look at the ‘necessary evils’ of corporate life through a ‘here are all the ways I win by doing this’ lens.
Lol okay maybe don't stare at the sun hahaha
Also laugh as much as you can. It helps.
By re-learning how to and allowing yourself to be selfish
Understand that life should not all revolve around money and prestige. Being simple and living under the need always helps with saving leading to less stress to always want or need more.
Also something I personally struggle with - learn to say no. We in consulting learn that the hard way. Better to learn it early on otherwise everyone thinks you are a pushover.
Connect with family and people who genuinely care about u often.
Vacation, step back, therapy, try to think positively about your ability to control your schedule and career. I struggled with it and then realized I had more control then I realized…I rose from the despair after a vacation and some therapy.
Excessive use of realized but you get the picture
Laughing is the best medicine. When I’m on calls and people ask how I’m doing I say “doing terribly how about you” and it cuts the tension a bit and people laugh

Knowing that burnout as being a cumulative process about emotional exhaustion resulting from chronic workplace stress not properly managed, look into:
- stress perception (self-care a priority)
- work boundaries (hours worked/responsibilities)
Quit consulting, trade nfts
