Supervisor said I couldn’t have week off for vacation this summer bc another coworker of higher seniority asked off the same week and two people can’t go on vacation at the same time because of staffing. But this coworker that asked off works different shift than me? He works 1st shift I work second. We have a total of 8 workers and no more than 4 work a day. can easily be covered. This has never been a problem until this year (we got a new supervisor). we’re used to being short staffed anyway

We just found out we lost our baby at 14 weeks; no heartbeat on the ultrasound today. D&C tomorrow. Husband and I are devastated, shocked, and don’t know what to do. Mamas who have been here, how did you heal? We don’t even know where to begin.

So…..my director has been in the position for a little over a year. We’ve been working our tails off and last quarter were informed of no bonuses. I understand that business is down and need to save money. The straw for us was a company holiday party. They completely forgot to have one and now taking us to a bar for drinks and appetizers. Someone asked if that includes a dinner and they said no. The optics is just so bad. Any advice? Really rethinking my current situation and need to reevaluate.

Need to workout post vacation but sprained an ankle during the trip. Found some non-impact workouts to do but feel that won’t burn enough. Guess it’s back to calorie counting 😞

Hours billed on a holiday should count as 1.5x hours.

Accepted an offer and my start date is mid October. I asked about background check results and if they were going to send me an email once everything was cleared. I was told they don’t do that. How am I supposed when to put my 2 weeks notice ? I wanted to take some time off between jobs but I want to have everything cleared before doing so.

Need to use some actual vacation time for the first time in three years (I know I know). I usually only take off a Friday here and there and just put it on my calendar and let everyone that I’m working with know that I won’t be available that day. For longer trips, say the full week, do you put in an official request?

Big law people. Just got asked to be my BF MOH...in Hong Kong. She lives across the country so I’ll also need a few weekend trips to wedding dress shop, bridal shower and maybe 2-3 work days for a bridal trip. She just asked me to do a pre trip to Hong Kong to test out vendors find locations etc. I haven’t taken vacation in 4 years but I’m looking at 2 weeks in 2022 for the wedding and a week to a week and a half this year for the pre wedding stuff. Looking to leave my current role, in industry (engineering/manufacturing) and to get back into big 4 (same firm as well), however I have a 3 month holiday planned from December next year.

Are big 4 pretty lenient on allowing holidays of that length? Especially for boomerangs? Or is it better to come back after the holiday and try then? Thinking that contracting temporarily might be the way to go in the interim.

So I got 2 offers, 1 at a well-known firm (that I previously worked at, not as an atty) that offered 80K plus full benefits (100% health coverage, PTO, sick days, discretionary bonus & 1800 billable req.) Their a little old school in their methods but I do see the younger gen. coming in to make changes. 2nd offer is at a newer firm however i’ve heard great things, and they offered 80k, unl. PTO, 1500 billable hours, bonus incentives qrtrly, & 50% health ins. WHY can’t I make a decision? HELP

I’ve interviewed for some product management roles, but am starting to feel a bit of fatigue, I’ve been interviewing off and on over a year and studying (online course for data and product management) at the same time.
