How do you politely refuse the opportunity to travel to a client site for a meeting?

Say you have Covid-like symptoms

likefunnysmart

Politely refer your manager to Dan’s repeated statements that no one is expected to travel at all.

OP, you can say you’re not comfortable. Covid is still rampant and you’re at Deloitte, we have no expectation to travel now. To be honest I’m in the no travel boat at least till I see how the spring plays out. No need to lie or excuse just be honest

Note: the request came from your manager and not the client

Actually, make it more present. I AM NOT comfortable putting myself at risk during this time.

Say you feel like you have a cough. That worked before it works even better now

like

Just say you don’t feel comfortable. We had two associates opt out of my last travel study. The irony less that all the older people in more vulnerable populations were willing to travel while young, healthy people were not. Strange dynamic but it’s all an individual risk tolerance thing.

Or a fear for their job kind of thing. Hope it’s not that :(

“I’m not comfortable traveling right now”

"Do you provide masks? I don't have any."

I would love to but can’t put my family at risk due to health concerns

Hi, Anyone who has an idea about steples project in HCL ? How it is ? It has development profile or not ?

Who misses the snack & food areas at either their workplace or client sites? I am one... I miss the breakfast chilaquiles from one client’s cafeteria. I also miss some of their snack foods. I actually ordered their snack foods from the snack vendor directly so now I can partake of at my home snack bar. I have not made chilaquiles since quarantine, however.

SO recently got a job offer in OC. With wfh I likely won’t need to go to DTLA to the office. And for client travel I could go to SNA/LAX once a week if need be. We’re in our late 20s making $325k no kids. Where would be a good place to move/buy? I’ve seen laguna mentioned but Zillow house prices there are absurd. Newport seems too conservative given we’re POC. Irvine too stale for my liking unless there are spots in Irvine other than spectrum that I haven’t been to. Thanks!

Looking for advice on talking to my current boss about leaving. My boss is a partner at my private agency, so that’s the tricky factor. He knows I’ve been so stressed out, that this job has become too much for me. They’re working on getting more support, but it feels like time for me to make a bigger move to client side or at least not agency. I really need something more steady, regular, even boring for my mental health, but I don’t want to make such a big move without consulting with my mentor

I told my MD and manager I want to be off the project. Gave my reasons based on my interests and objectives. They don’t want to let me go. They said this will be bad for my career at the firm and it will hurt my reputation to request to roll off just because of low interest. Asked me to reconsider and give it a try. What do I do? I hate this account, I have anxiety from it, very toxic.

As a M/SM how mad would you be if an analyst told you the following on short notice. Family just planned an event for my moms birthday this Friday, so I have a hard stop @5pm. I have dinner reservations with my mom Thurs so I have a 6pm hard stop. Won’t be available over the weekend either. This week we have client design sessions and I’m pretty much the backbone of this (I do all the edits and do some damn good work). There is another analyst who can take over my work but he’s kinda useless tbh

Anyone finds it manipulative and disingenuous for partners and directors to actively push you to take vacation due to it being slow. I said no already; I am well rested and will use my vacation when I am exhausted and need to. I do not know why I’ve been asked four times to take PTO. I will book a week's vacation when convenient for me, not when suitable for the firm.

Feeling super discouraged. I’m pretty average IQ wise, but I’ve always been able to get ahead by working harder/longer than others. (e.g. I raised my ACT score for 29 to 35 by taking 30+ practice tests, and got into MBB on my second try by doing 50+ mock interviews.) But now that I’m at MBB I feel like working hard isn’t enough. I feel like to succeed here you have to be lightning fast at picking stuff up and executing tasks, and that’s just not me.
