Nobody needs to know you didn't leave of your own accord.
If you got laid off, it probably wasn't the right place for you, so just think of the reasons why it wasn't the right place for you, make sure they don't sound like you're the problem, or like consulting in general isn't for you.
Then if anyone ever asks why you left your last job, say it wasn't the right fit and share the most relevant reasons you identified.
If you're worried worried about the gap time, just make sure you can say you did something constructive with it, like travel, something personal /family related, career exploration, starting your own thing, whatever.
Also, if it's feasible, I would try to stick to only listing years, rather than months on your employment start and end dates.
Thanks guys ❤️
