I totally understand. I stay after school on Friday and try to get work/plans done as much as I can. This makes me feel like I’m at least half prepared before the weekend. I try to do something I enjoy every Saturday’s. this gives me the energy to plan what’s left Sunday afternoon, take it easy Sunday night. I find this helps me a lot. And last, Keelung a positive attitude goes s long way! Good luck!
I usually don’t let myself leave work on Friday until I’m 100% set up! I write myself a Post It with all the things I need to do to run through my lesson on Monday in order to refresh my memory when I get to school
I try to do some meditation, which helps me get in the right frame of mind for the week. I also review my lesson plans to see what I have to do
Mondays are Mondays for EVERYONE, students included. Change your mindset about Monday and you will be good. Literally, wish everyone a happy Monday, start class off with a big HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE! And it will stir something up inside of you, at least, if not, the class and everyone you encounter with it. It's all in your attitude.
Another thing, is maybe treat Monday as your Monday Best for getting dressed (similar to Sunday Best). Dress nice and fancy. As I told a librarian at one school: look good, feel good, do good. It was our thing.
Remember why you got into teaching. Monday’s are my days to see my kids again! Makes me happy to get up and go!
I start prepping for Monday on the previous Tuesday! I make my warm ups and weekly homework pages, along with any other copies I might need. I also make sure my PowerPoint slides are ready to go. When Sunday rolls around, I plan my outfits for the week, meal prep, and try to get in a good workout. This week it was weightlifting with a friend, but I usually try to do yoga. It’s a good way for me to focus on my body and how I’m feeling 😊
Sunday’s are for relaxing! I will NOT do any school work on Sunday. Also, my PLC meets first thing Monday morning, which I actually don’t mind- getting there early and meeting makes me feel prepared and I’m definitely more settled in by the time the kids actually walk in.
I’ve made a rule for myself to NOT work on Sunday also. It’s saved me. I’m starting to find a balance too in which I usually don’t work on Saturday either.
I visualize my classes and exactly what I want to have my students do and what I’ll do. I even visualize the potential places where I have to expect challenges and what potential changes to
Instruction I might need to make.
This is very helpful to me as I feel as though I had already done it, previously, so come Monday, I felt much more prepared
I like to arrive a little bit earlier to get in the right head space. I make sure everything is prepped for classes before leaving on Friday so it’s ready to go. I also plan out all my clothes for the week on Sunday so getting ready is a little easier !
I make a outline of my classes on Sunday. It helps me feel better knowing I have a plan, even if it’s not all done yet!
