Gossip/trash talk as much as you want.. When you leave the room, people will be talking about you.

Just tell yourself you want to be the type of person who is above that. Your colleagues will notice you don't talk trash about anyone, even those who deserve it, and they'll respect you much more. Make that your incentive. Also, think about how you'd feel if your negative comments got back to or were overheard by the person you are talking about.

Disciple is what it comes down to. I'm not really a trash talker so I don't really know what to suggest, but just know that they probably hear the shit you talk about them; particularly if you talk to other coworkers.

I see a therapist weekly and pretty much vent about work the entire time. If i get especially irate at work and can't confront the person (bc there would be serious negative consequences to me if I did), I pull out a piece of paper, vent, and then rip it up and throw it away. It is about externalizing it. I feel like talking about co-workers behind back with other co-workers (always as opposed to every now and then) can really lead to a toxic environment. You might want to work on what seems to be a bad habit. Sorry if that sounds rude. I just think that this kind of thing unnecessarily pollutes the water and makes work harder and worse for all involved in the long run. Good for you for identifying the habit and seeking to change. Good luck

It's called not giving an F, smile laugh and enjoy time with those you have a great time with. I am lucky to have an amazing team that way though

I second the advise of D2--this method (versus the bs D1 posted) demonstrates maturity and professionalism. This is your JOB--not the hallways of your middle school.

Also, if you need to vent - do it with family and friends, not people you work with. That way it won't get back to them but you've said your piece.

I just watched some videos of me and my family from a few months ago, and it just made me so depressed. It’s going to be ages before we return to anything close to how it was like such a short time ago. We take so much for granted in this life, and don’t realize it until it’s snatched away.
