How do you quit a big law job? Do I write an email? Talk to my partners? The practice chair? Managing partner? HR? I have files to close and fully intend to stay for at least the rest of April to finish open work. I am completely switching practices to go to a boutique if that makes a difference.

Talk to your PG head or dept. Chair. They will coordinate from there. They will need to write a transition memo, maybe do an exit interview, work on transitioning files and the like. Don’t burn bridges. Work hard up until the day you leave. Touch base people. Life will go on, yours and theirs.

I had a letter that I delivered in-person to the partner I knew the best (but I was junior so I just went to the practice group head). I followed up with an email copy of the letter to HR. Then followed up with in-person visits to the offices of people I knew and cared about the most. HR will set you up with all of the formal logistics. But like P1 said, the goal is to end on a high note and avoid burning bridges. The vast majority of people in biglaw leave at some point or another, so people won’t be surprised.

99% sure your employee handbook or employment contracts will set out the process for handling in your notice.

It seems that management doesn’t always understand that employee engagement is tied to many things such as work/life balance, benefits, workload, etc. Any ideas on how to present this type of info to management? We have already done an engagement survey and delivered results but there is lack of action planning which is also not heavily backed up by leadership. Any ideas on how to deliver this message so it makes an impact?

Just worked a full 10 hours today due to a market research vendor data collection error. So glad I found out Friday afternoon and we have a client check in tomorrow and I was made to redo a week’s worth of analysis and deck building over the weekend. Taking a break, and a drink, for now. Cheers y’all!

Hi guys, I'm looking for a data science role at ZS Associates Please do let me if any one can refer me. I'm currently working as a data scientist with 2+ YOE. Thanks in advance

Newly promoted experienced hire SC making $113k, 10 YOE (switched industries). Got an offer from TCS in an Advisory practice (not the tech sweatshop stuff that I keep seeing people mention). Base salary is $190k and in TCS equivalent of a M role. Downside to taking the salary hike and boomeranging back to D in ~2 years? FYI - I have 2 kids, so that kind of pay raise is kind of a big deal.

Currently a third year associate. I don’t have any desire to move to a private audit role ever - should I be looking to get out immediately or would it benefit me to wait until senior or manager to attempt to pivot out of auditing? I’d like to get into more of a finance or consulting position.
