Following. Just got married and I am curious 🤔

I’ve heard that it’s great to have a joint account for shared necessities (housing food etc) and keep all other “fun” stuff separate! As for each persons contributions have an honest conversation about what each of you expect, and consider each contributing a % of your income rather than a flat rate so it can change over time and doesn’t burden either of you too much

My wife has her paycheck go straight to savings and mine goes straight to checking (covers monthly bills). For a while we had the same amount going to our hidden personal account. It sounded like a good idea but after 3 years of marriage we realized we never used our personal accounts and are considering closing.

But how about managing any financial help you sent for your family - siblings and parents?

We treated it all as one bucket back when my wife was working. One checking account, one savings account. One brokerage account, and retirement accounts in each of our names (IRAs and 401ks). Just keeps things simple. We have a budget and we’re aligned on how much discretionary income we can spend each month.

Thought I'd share this for inspiration. I was eating right and working out for the past few weeks and my weight on the scale was not budging which in turn was demotivating me. Yesterday was my first rest day and cheat day. I also slept a full 8 hrs. This morning I stepped on the scale and voila! Down 6 lbs. This has motivated me to keep pushing. Another 15 lbs to my target. lesson learned - Trust the process!

Got an email “reminder” that weekly lesson plans are due Monday morning. I’m tired. I want to reply “no” because I don’t have time to make detailed lesson plans on their template...for lessons that I won’t follow...for a curriculum they haven’t given me yet....But I should probably just ignore it until I’m less tired so I don’t let my mouth get me in trouble. Do y’all turn in lesson plans?

Hey guys. I have a soon to be nonprofit church struggling because they already started services (collecting offerings too against my advice) before things were set with an EIN and they gave an event already planned out and are trying to find a way to spend and collect before the things are in order. They want to know if one of their small business owners can expense and collect then consider it a donation. Is this possible? Any advice or loopholes that are Legal and will avoid issues later on?

Her fellow immigrant friends from different countries also say this. She says culture here is friendly but distant and ppl are too wrapped up in their home life and less so in their social life. She misses daily socializing that was a norm in her home country. I’ve lived here all my life so can’t judge but curious as to whether other immigrants here agree

Received a job offer for an industry senior job that would be a $20K pay bump plus nice bonus and really good benefits (a lot better then my current benefits) and much better work/life balance. However, I was pretty much guaranteed to be early promoted to manager this year (in August). I don’t really see myself staying until partner so I’m trying to weigh out the pros and cons to help me make a decision.
