How do you research arbitrators on Lexi's? Went to litigation analytics but it's only for judges, courts, and attorneys.

After every busy season, I think about leaving public accounting and/or the firm. I have 5+ years in tax. Anyone switch to audit/consulting from tax? Writing sample question. I drafted a really complex dispositive motion that was granted. It was obviously revised by the partners on the case but can I still use it as a sample?

Obviously I would redact or change client/identifying information. It was publicly filed and is available on the public docket. I am not one of the attorneys of record.

Curious what people have done in the past. I'm interested in lateral positions so can't exactly ask the partners I work with.

A bit freaked out by my “generalist” approach to litigation so far. Almost two years in and couldn’t really say I’m that “good” in any one area.

Don’t really have my own clients, and I feel like in order for me to gain the confidence necessary to obtain them, I need to specialize in SOMETHING.

Million dollar question - any areas of litigation seen as being a good specialty to get into now/for the future?

I’m a first year associate at a Big Law firm. Most of my assignments have been research memos and summary emails. I enjoy research but the questions asked are never obvious and the answer is usually nuanced, unclear, or the perfect case just doesn’t exist. As a result, it usually takes me a while to craft an answer that I feel confident in. However, more and more often I’ve been given very short deadlines to turn over the research, as short as 3-4 hours for a complicated question. Is this common

I am a mid-level associate in litigation. In law school, I focused on appellate litigation and did exclusively moot court and appellate focused classes (successfully, won several awards if it matters). I am now doing a lot more trial at work than I expected and am feeling out of my element and not as skilled as I would like. Obviously I should have done trial practice/mock trial in law school, but it being too late for that now, any recommendations on what I can do to improve as a trial lawyer?

Hi folks. I'm in my sixth year of prosecution and have hit the glass ceiling. My next options are to run for office (ew), stay where I am and get state sanctioned raises for the rest of my career (ew), or jump ship. I'd like to get into plaintiff's litigation. Any tips would be much appreciated on 1.) switching expertise, 2.) fully remote or hybrid work (I love my house & don't want to move), 3.) where to find jobs openings. Thanks!

What is a reasonable amount to accept to settle a case with undisputed liability? Let’s say for example potential damages are realistically $100k-1M. Let’s say cost of defense is $200k. No chance of them getting out on SJ or a MTD. Is cost of defense a reasonable starting point? It seems like an offer below that would not be serious.
