How do you reward yourself after a long day? Looking to step away from using food and alcohol as a reward

Pokémon go. Listening to rain on me by lady Gaga and Ariana. Having a mini rave in my living room. Go for a run. Rock climbing. Playing Catan or this crazy card game with my neighbors. I attended a zoom circuit party once — that was interesting. Going for a drive with my dogs. Listening to the sub system I put in my car like I’m still in high school. Shave my chest. Get an IV from the IV shop. Get a massage. Get Botox or a chemical peel. Bleach my hair. Do my face routine. Take a hot shower, put my bed sheets in the dryer, tell Alexa to turn my lights to 30% and cuddle up while watching RuPauls drag race or housewives while spamming gifs to everyone I know. Buy expensive underwear. Going to the pool, sitting in the sun, wearing the expensive bathing suit I treated myself with and complimenting myself on my shaved chest 😂

I basically treat myself all the time.

Damn that’s so similar to my life

Play basketball and work on other random skills I’m trying to develop that I think will challenge me or make me a better person. I’d recommend looking at people you admire - celebrities or friends and looking at what it is that they do that you admire. Schedule time to work on developing those traits or skills in your free time. Before you know it you’ll achieve success at those as you are, undoubtedly a high achieving individual. You will then be the subject of envy and inspiration for others. Once you’ve gotten good at one, pick another. Thus the game of life continues until you’re in the ground. You then have inspired countless others and made something of yourself through interesting and challenging experiences.

Reward myself by working out. It was hard the first 3 days but now the endorphins are really my only source of happiness

I personally still have a glass of red wine at least, just can’t kick the stress without a little help, sadly.

Cannabis is way better than alcohol for relaxation for me. But that's still intoxicating and not legal everywhere...

Playing or cuddling with the cat or dog works for me.

I also like driving if there's not a lot of traffic - so I've gone for a local scenic drives to clear the head.

I play with my pup after work. She literally reminds me work time is done by putting her feet on my arms.

You tell me...all I do is run a few miles every day so I can halfway justify the wine and snacks 😭

Look—summer is coming and I might have a mask on but I’m not getting sick through my belly button—gotta be ready to have it out 🤣🤣

My stress relief is listening to the river and nature. If nature isn’t working I get the gun collection out, targets, get a few friends over and we light up some targets in the back yard. My lazy reward is video games. It was TV but it’s been so interesting in real life that TV bores me now.

D2 its kind of like a gameboy but its bigger and a lot more powerful. Like an Xbox you can hold in your hands, if that comparison lands.

Dogs all the way. You can try fostering if you don’t want the long term commitment.

Yeah letting go is hard, but I love thinking back on all of them! And I give out my number if they get adopted while I am fostering and sometimes get updates. Those make me so happy

Playing records on my vinyl setup. You hear the lows and highs like never before. Such a good feeling

like

What I've read is that our ears and brains interpret a degree of fuzziness and slightly lower quality output associated with vinyl (i have also read that about tube based systems) as warmth. I am fairly certain the best digital system would outperform vinyl in clarity, and the numbers would bear it out. I have both - hardly a world class system, but to me the difference is evident. Interested in hearing engineering perspectives with links to data so I can learn more.

I’m getting really fat and developing poor habits. I’ve always been someone with tons of self control and discipline - I had a career as a ballet dancer in my early twenties. I hate what’s happening to me - can’t seem to turn it around.

Rant: frustrated that my period is all over the place (had it once) about 5 mos after going off the pill. I have read Taking Charge of Your Fertility and know regulating takes time. I am impatient.

I received an offer from another firm 2 days ago, I responded yesterday afternoon looking to negotiate some of the terms. When should I follow up? The offer expires close of business today.

MBB interviewers: “What’s your management style”, “What’s your communication preference”, ever hurt to provide a story to illustrate those traits? Or best spend that time elsewhere (“tell me about a time” questions, the case itself, etc). Ideally would do both, but only 30/45 mins here. TIA!
