How do you, in the moment, stop yourself reacting to someone like this? It's not that my reactions are inappropriate per sé, just that I want to rise above it.
I have learned over the years that there is nothing you can do. I know you shouldn’t have run from the problem; however, it isn’t worth the energy. This is the jockey football club mentality. F them
Grin and bear it while you look to move to a new group or job.
If a company isn’t correcting that there’s a toxic employee at the company, they will never do it. Not worth it enough to stay especially so early in your career.
Also, a ballsy but necessary move is to tell your coworkers why you are leaving. Companies need to be made aware of bad apples.
It took 7 years to remove my once toxic manager from my first corporate gig after someone finally told HR how crazy he was and threatened to sue.
Lastly, you can also stay and persevere. Make allies with others around you for the purposes of those people lifting you up. Don’t make allies to try this person down. It will back fire.
