How do you schedule return deliverables to reviewers? Do you ask when they need it by or do you give a date? I feel like every reviewer wants it ASAP.

Practice saying this every time someone delegates something to you , “Just thinking about timing and budget on this and trying to prioritize. I’m also working on A, B, and C - what should I focus on first?”

This. This is the correct answer.

I usually ask when they plan on reviewing it and check in throughout the week in case their timetable changes.

My partner of 5 years ended our relationship last night. I’m shattered and feel absolutely sick, and I know the healing isn’t going to be easy. We were on the verge of an engagement and I was ready to spend the rest of my life with him.

I don’t know how to approach work during this time. I think I can get by, but I’m definitely not 100%. Should I talk to my boss about it? My team is close-knit and comfortable around each other, but I don’t know if it’s “appropriate.” What would you do?

I have a senior who feels the need to break down every little thing they’re working on, repeating over and over the actions they are going to take after I ask them to do something. I get that he’s likely being overly prepared and wants to make sure I recognize he understands the asks, but I feel like it’s excessive. I’m not a micromanager and don’t need this level of detail. I want to make my senior feel supported, but is there anything I can suggest in this case without sounding like an ass?

Hi friends. Current BDR looking for new opportunities. I was contacted directly by AMEX in regards to a Business development manager position and now have an interview scheduled for next week. No clue how as I only have almost a year of BDR experience but I’m running with it and willing to shoot the shot. My interview track record is solid but have never interviewed for a BDM role. Any tips on how I should prepare and what questions I should be asking? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Those of you who left for industry, what do you work towards in your role? I was reflecting on my time in public and there was always something, whether it was a new section in the file, getting more client contact, getting invited to a big golf outing, running the jobs, managing the jobs, etc. I worry that leaving would leave me bored and not motivated to hit any sort of goal. I’m burnt out and worry that I’m making a rash decision lol. Thoughts?

All things equal is the Bay Area or NY the highest paying city for remote employees? Has anyone interviewed with firms in both cities?

I’m up for senior this year, but concerned I won’t be promoted. At the end of my first year I had great reviews that were a mix of at at level or developing towards next level and had one critic that said I needed to develop technical knowledge in one area of tax. This year, I’m acting senior on almost all of my engagements, I’ve successfully trained all the new associates and new senior associates on my biggest engagement, and have been told that I’ve exceeded expectations on that cont.

Given that most major PA firms are fairly lax on remote work/hybrid work models, is it fair to assume one can apply to positions in any city in the country even if they don’t live in that state? Or should they stick to open positions in their localities?
