How do you spread your vacation days out over the course of the year?

I generally try to plan one vacation that is at least a week long. Then I look at all the known days (weddings, events, etc.). After that I plan for 1-2 days at Thanksgiving and Christmas each. The rest of the time (which there may not be if I take longer than a week for one vacation) I spread out and try to use more as a last minute thing whenever I feel like really I need a day off.

Curious if anyone is taking time off this month to see family. I'm crazy busy and it'd honestly be easier for me to wait until Christmas, but my mothers almost insisting I fly home this month. AITA for wanting to work through November and only see my family at Christmas?

Always been a fan of FIRE and reading about it has definitely helped my finances but I can’t help but wonder if the movement is more about lifestyle change than early retirement.

After you achieve FI,you basically have to maintain the lifestyle that got you there.

What if you want to go on a lavish vacation or buy that flatscreen TV? Are you supposed to do away with material goods entirely? I suppose you could keep working for discretionary $ and live off interest but then you’re not retired.

Hi everyone! How did you discuss with your boss all the time you’d be needing to take off for appointments? My boss absolutely hates when people take time off. Company policy is at least a week ahead of time - she says she needs at least 2. Also when someone requests off a couple days in March then a couple days in April for example, she gets annoyed and says they are requesting too much time (even if they have plenty of PTO available).

Hello Infoscians/Ex-Infoscians!

I will be joining Infosys this Thursday as a 7+ YOE Tech Lead. I am an avid trekker and every year I go on a trek at least once which requires me to take a 5-7 working days off. Its actually my passion.

Just wanted to know how difficult it is to get leaves approved and officially before how many days do i need to inform my manager?

Is there any SOP for applying leaves at Infy?

Thank you in advance!

Update: just got my OOAS shoes and I have to say, I LOVE THEM!!
The box they came with was beautiful, the dust bag was also beautiful. The shoe feels so well made and luxurious, I would say they feel more luxurious than my Loubies! I got them in 6.5 based on all the comments but a 6 should have worked just fine. I can’t wear the shoes with socks because then they become very slippery so keep that in mind. Overall, worth the price!

At first, the hiring manager and head of legal were very complementary about my experience. Almost too much so. After a week of interviews with the team (softball-esq), I was informed that if I wanted to join, they would bring me on at a lower title. I’m not sure about comp yet. But if comp is still an increase + experience at a public..
