Can anyone tell me what the salary range is for Monitor Deloitte senior consultants in the UAE? Also I have a SC offer from PwC healthcare (not strategy &) and currently also interviewing with Monitor so according to you all which of the two is better across WLB, growth, culture, quality? Thanks!

McKinsey & Company Has Mckinsey met BA headcount quota for the year/did they freeze hiring? I interviewed and got to last round last year, and applied again with a referral two months ago but haven’t heard anything from recruiting. Last year I heard back within 1 month of referral drop. I would’ve thought with my 1 more year of experience I should be able to get an interview easily.🥲 McKinsey & Company

I feel that. Almost at the year mark as well and getting anxious. I’m now trying to get certifications to amp up my resume since obviously something needs to change to get noticed. I won’t lose hope though because I don’t want to end up like those people who never leave and just stay doing this just because it’s easier and the pay is good. I want to do work I enjoy so I think that alone keeps me motivated.
Are you looking for new opportunities because you are burnt out or because you are not getting the opportunities needed to continue to grow and advance? If the latter, I would proactively look for opportunities to add value to your firm (whether through practice development initiatives or on other projects). This will help you build a stronger network within your firm but also continue to build your experience and skill sets. I promise you that being proactive will pay dividends whether or not you plan to be in consulting in the future.
A1 I agree 100%. I see people around me who stay at the same job for 10+ 20+ years because they know everyone easy work and good benefits/pay, I would hate to join that club. Getting noticed is what I’m trying to do as well. What certs are you getting?
Interview with the mindset that you have a deadline to prepare for, and an opportunity to keep up with latest stuff. Whether you get the job or not, you are at least confident that you are up to date with latest know-how. And, you have more experience on handling future interviews.
OP certs based on what I commonly see on jobs I’m trying to get. Have been spending bench time learning and brushing on those things.
SD1: it’s a combo of both for me. I’ve realized consulting’s not really my thing and that I’m not getting the opportunities because they’re not available (I’ve done enough internal networking and researching to know since I’ve tried to do internal work in the area of interest in the past). So at this point, if I want to get that opportunity, I have to move out of consulting.
Yeah definitely. I think I’m one of those people who learns what I don’t like from all my situations. At least consulting has shown me what I’m really interested in. Now I just have to make it happen and get into it, and not lose that hope or motivation.
SD1- thank you for the advice. For me personally, I don’t mind consulting at all and in fact I’m actively building network to move to a different team within the firm so I could do different work. Biggest struggle comes from my current management who doesn’t provide growth opportunity nor let me grow into another team. I feel like a slave to them for lack of a better word and leaving the firm takes time due to visa constraint.
Analyst OP: It’s all about how you respond to the situation. Make a goal in 2019 to carve out opportunities for yourself by focusing on areas that will make managements lives easier. Help with business development efforts, internal initiatives or any high priority initiative that increases your visibility.
Funny thing you mention the visa constraint because I was in the exact same situation. I was with the same firm for 5 years because they were sponsoring my work visa. Don’t view that as a negative; soon enough management will see your value, and more importantly, you will appreciate the continuity working for the same firm. Even if you feel that you’ve tried, critically think about how you can re-engage management to get the opportunities you want.
