Going through an IVF cycle with a projected transfer date at the end of the month, already have a toddler from a previous cycle. On top of that I have a sick parent with a terminal illness that looks like it will be a few months at most. Am I biting off more than I can chew here? I feel like I’m 3 people on any given day, a mother/wife; a professional at work; and a daughter. Something has to give here…
S/O to OBJ and Rafa for putting ultra high end watches all over social media. Maybe one day I could afford a watch that costs over a half mil 😂

I completed my btech from 2009-2015. It took 6 years to complete it. I started working from 2014. I have got the offer letter from tcs. Will there be any issue in bgc? Tata Consultancy
I’m very new to this journey. I’m 37, husband is 34. Went off birth control mid May, periods have been regular and normal since June. I tested my ovulation in June with test strips and did have LT surge. Haven’t tested with strips since (things got hectic) but have been tracking everything on Flo so still having sex and TTC. Im testing with strips again regularly this cycle and it seems I’m not ovulating. Trying not to freak out. I don’t have a history of PCOS or really none of the symptoms.

I am in the last stages of an interview process and I really fucked up a 15-min talk with some on the team. I’ve already spoken with two collegues and it went very well, but this one I totally blew because I stuttered, was super nervous and could not answer the questions properly. Considering that I’m probably not a favourite for this one guy, what do you think my chances are for landing the job? Can I do something to “save” the situation?

So, I got the job - a formal written offer was made today @ $10k under the company’s “target” base pay. I have been told that the offer that has been made is the best and highest available based on my experience (ideally company would have wanted a few more years).
It really sounds like there’s no room for negotiation but I want to try - do I say that I need $5k-$10k more otherwise I will be unable to accept or do I just accept the very generous offer on the table?
[Offer Query] Foley & Lardner - Milwaukee - Fund Formation/Investment Management - 3rd Year.
(1) I’m at a midsize firm with great team members/mentor in this practice area, what is the Milwaukee office’s culture like as far as mentorship and collegiality?
(2) Is 1900 hours a reasonable estimate of how many hours I would actually work as an associate/what are normal hours for an associate?
(3) What are your biggest concerns/frustrations with Foley and/or the Milwaukee office?
Anyone suiting up for the office?
I’m in Chicago, and I feel like I’ve been seeing a lot more suits in the loop.
I’m considering refinancing my student loans again (140k left). I refinanced in Jan 2020 using Earnest (I could have kicked myself for not having a magic ball predicting a pandemic and the government pausing payments and interest on federal loans). My current interest rate is 4.55 fixed and I think I could get a better rate now with a 10 year payment plan. Anyone have experience refinancing student loans twice in a relatively short period? Anyone recommend taking the lower variable rate?
I’m assigned to a case I hate with a passion. It’s worse than watching paint dry. Whatever the outcome, society won’t benefit anything from it. How do you cope?
Thoughts on this from a legal standpoint? I've been wondering how the US Supreme Court will decide the employment discrimination cases for gay and trans employees on the basis of sex.
Was excited to see my “nomination” to Top100 list for my area. I suspected it was pay to play, but I’m kind of turned off by how candidly pay to play it was. Does anyone pay for this? What clients retain or call you because of this effort?

How do you not get pigeonholed as a new associate? There are some areas I definitely like, but others not so much. I’m of the mind set now that all work is good work, but I worry about falling into a practice area I don’t want to pursue. Any advice?
My wife is starting a full time job after 2 years. I’ve been paying all the expenses since we’ve been married. We each have our own separate accounts and a joint account. Her salary will be around $50-$75k. We agreed she needs to contribute to the expenses and I was thinking that starting off paying half the rent would be reasonable ($1,500). Maybe put that amount per month into the joint account and then she can do what she wants with the rest? Reasonable? How do others handle expenses?
Hot Take: OCI is not a good way to recruit lawyers. It and I is not the best career path for many lawyers.
How does one make partner in a black box firm where there's no set plan to partner? I'm just curious what the path is. All about business brought in? Number of years? Work product? I just lateraled as a 4th year from a lock step firm to black box.

I’m part of our firm’s professional development group and the junior associates have been pushing for a depo skills workshop. Someone suggested senior associates help put it together, which was ironic coming from a partner who never allows seniors the opportunity to take depos. Anyway, hoping to get a sense of whether we’re on par before meeting with the practice group chairs.
Anyone have any recommendations for a good computer chair? I have low back problems so I’m looking to get something that’s a little more comfortable than your average chair.
