How do you stay motivated? Especially on Mondays after a fun weekend? I always remind myself I’m so lucky to have the job I have worked so hard for, but sometimes that isn’t enough of a push. TIA!

It’s normal to have ups and downs — mine are mostly downs but ya know.

Sometimes I come up with a reward system for myself. Like if I finish x assignment then I can take a 10 minute walk outside. Or if I finish these 3 things by 7pm then I get to watch a certain tv show. It sounds kinda silly, but it’s like I really need a specific reward for things when I’m in a funk

I do this too!! When I especially want to just sit on my phone to procrastinate work, I use this app called “Flora” which sets a timer for you to not use your phone and when I finish enough 25 minute intervals I’ll have some type of reward, even if it’s as minor as running around the house for a few minutes or taking a break to text stupid stuff to my friends.

I’m very new to this journey. I’m 37, husband is 34. Went off birth control mid May, periods have been regular and normal since June. I tested my ovulation in June with test strips and did have LT surge. Haven’t tested with strips since (things got hectic) but have been tracking everything on Flo so still having sex and TTC. Im testing with strips again regularly this cycle and it seems I’m not ovulating. Trying not to freak out. I don’t have a history of PCOS or really none of the symptoms.

Hi everyone,
I am in the last stages of an interview process and I really fucked up a 15-min talk with some on the team. I’ve already spoken with two collegues and it went very well, but this one I totally blew because I stuttered, was super nervous and could not answer the questions properly. Considering that I’m probably not a favourite for this one guy, what do you think my chances are for landing the job? Can I do something to “save” the situation?

So, I got the job - a formal written offer was made today @ $10k under the company’s “target” base pay. I have been told that the offer that has been made is the best and highest available based on my experience (ideally company would have wanted a few more years).

It really sounds like there’s no room for negotiation but I want to try - do I say that I need $5k-$10k more otherwise I will be unable to accept or do I just accept the very generous offer on the table?

Advice please…

[Offer Query] Foley & Lardner - Milwaukee - Fund Formation/Investment Management - 3rd Year.

Questions:

(1) I’m at a midsize firm with great team members/mentor in this practice area, what is the Milwaukee office’s culture like as far as mentorship and collegiality?

(2) Is 1900 hours a reasonable estimate of how many hours I would actually work as an associate/what are normal hours for an associate?

(3) What are your biggest concerns/frustrations with Foley and/or the Milwaukee office?

I’m considering refinancing my student loans again (140k left). I refinanced in Jan 2020 using Earnest (I could have kicked myself for not having a magic ball predicting a pandemic and the government pausing payments and interest on federal loans). My current interest rate is 4.55 fixed and I think I could get a better rate now with a 10 year payment plan. Anyone have experience refinancing student loans twice in a relatively short period? Anyone recommend taking the lower variable rate?

My wife is starting a full time job after 2 years. I’ve been paying all the expenses since we’ve been married. We each have our own separate accounts and a joint account. Her salary will be around $50-$75k. We agreed she needs to contribute to the expenses and I was thinking that starting off paying half the rent would be reasonable ($1,500). Maybe put that amount per month into the joint account and then she can do what she wants with the rest? Reasonable? How do others handle expenses?
