Read books after work instead of Youtube.
It is hard to get off the dopamine machine that is the internet, but once you get a few pages in and you put your phone down it gets easier.
Download audiobooks and go for a walk/hike. There’s a double benefit!
Just read one page, take one step. It’s so little that its more effort thinking up an excuse not to. Once you have the book in your hands, well, maybe one more page, or not :)
I don't know about you but I always tried to read real paper books, and I was so slow. Now I just read the books on my phone with the Kindle app and I'm reading about a book a month (that's fast for me lol). Since my tendency is to stare at my phone anyway, it made it way easier for me to read if the book was on my phone.
I can attest to this as well. Hadn't read all that much in years, but slowly started reading a couple pages here and there. I ended up reading over 30 books in the past 2 months alone.
Might be good to start off with short books like the Forward series if you're into sci-fi/black mirror type stuff. Look through Goodreads' top rated books lists for something you might like.
Another thing that helped was listening to audiobooks along with reading the book so you're truly immersed in the story. Once you get used to it, you can increase the listening speed to 2x and get through the book in half the time.

Put the phone down and do it. I’m serious, put the phone or laptop you use in another area or room and just do it.

Delete apps on your phone. I recently deleted all non-necessary ones; facebook, twitter, snapchat, etc. I honestly don’t miss them. You also start to realize how much negativity is on them. This app is next to go. I only downloaded it, because it’s bonus and raise time and I’m getting useful information. Gates, Zuckerberg, and Jobs all banned or limited social media usage for their kids.
If you can, I find a change of scenery helps get me out of my comfort zone. I stayed in a hotel 10 miles away from my apartment, just to have a feeling of adventure and getting out of the house. Used the elliptical at the gym, finished my book in the bath tub, and when I went home the next day, I was more motivated to go for a run than sit in front of the TV out of habit.
