How do you stealthily ask for help? I see a lot of you mentioning that you ask your partners to give you deadline, have your assistant check in, etc. That sounds great, but I'm so nervous about looking like the odd one out or revealing my ADHD in the process. So I haven't brought myself to do it yet.

If someone asked me for a concrete deadline, I'd just assume they were trying to prioritize. You might be freaking yourself out a little.

I understand this completely. I've struggled with finding the right time or way to ask for help also throughout my career. One thing I've learned is that if you actually need help and have exhausted all of you options trying to do it alone, remember that you are apart of a team... if someone has the leeway to help you, more than likely they would be happy to. You can start but identifying who would be the right person to ask for help then reaching out to ask for their input on the matter or if they have time to go over things with you. Hope this helps

I don't do it stealthily or attribute it to adhd. I'm not especially good at it, but when I ask for help I take the view that it's whomever's job to help me, just like sometimes it's my job to suffer...

To my assistant, "hi! please calendar this with three and two week reminders, thanks!"

To a partner, "This thing is due in a week, but realistically I can't start it until two days before it's due because of deadlines. Is there anyone we can loop in to take first crack?"

Sometimes the answer is no, and that's when I do nearly or actual all nighters because what other options do I have... But the trick seems to be seeing the train wreck far enough in advance to get assistance...and then not apologizing for not being able to do everything.

I am hyper vigilant about forecasting out my due dates to try to see where there are going to be problems and then get some backup support and/or delegate accordingly.

Looks like you agree with those options you stated but aren't ready yet. Take your time to prepare. It might seem easy for others but we all have different ways with things.

Has anyone ever gone on disability at a law firm where you’re the only paralegal to the partner of the firm? I’m worried I’ll be replaced while I’m out or that I’ll be letting him down. I’m already behind on my workload so I can imagine how backed up and out of touch I will be when I come back. I don’t want to let him down. I’ve been with the firm 5 years and I’m really his right hand. But I am concerned about it.

Just watched the exchange between Jim Jordan and Fauci in the House hearing. Also checked the comment section at both CNN and FOX. Boy people are so divided.

The current solution sounds like a compromise between both sides: you can go out; you need to wear mask. Neither side will be satisfied by this and will get more divided while cases grow.
