Agreed to serve as local counsel for another attorney in my firm (different office). Answered complaint and then the case fell off the rails. Turns out firm has a conflict of interest that was missed in initial check, client has been instructed to retain a new attorney, court has ordered us to withdraw and client to produce documents by Wednesday. I keep reaching out to the attorney who I am assisting to ask if I can file my withdrawal and for the name of the new attorney and nothing. (Cont.)

I love working at the bookstore and I'm proud to work with such a large group of people from different backgrounds. I'm really happy we're all here. But it probably isn't the best idea to get someone to reshelve books when they haven't been taught how to categorize them properly. It's like I spend most of the day following one of my coworkers around and discreetly fixing what he works on. He's a great guy, very personable, but wow is it frustrating.

Told my partner that I am experiencing severe covid symptoms and that am running around trying to get a test (very difficult where I am located right now). His response was to call him later today when I am *finally* at my desk to discuss a matter which requires work over the weekend. Is this normal?

My organization absorbed another and the former deputy PM became a branch head - a demotion. For org was more focused on tech dev and not delivering a product on a sked. New org is very focused on that. He is not a driving leader, but is the only one with the tech knowledge needed. He is retirement eligible. He has no heir apparent - previous org didn’t plan that way. If I move him under someone who is a driver - he retires and I lose the knowledge. If I don’t, we may not meet schedules. Advice?

There is one think I was always wondering. While someone is leaving a company to other, why is it that it should be in such a secretive way. Why should we inform our colleagues officially on the last day of working? Won't it be good to inform in a week advance and leave with a proper goodbye from everyone? Or why shouldn't we inform on the day our resignation is accepted?

Women in the ad world: When a client who is more senior than you says something sexist and offensive in a meeting how would you respond? Do you confront the situation or move on to save your job?

What is the deal with managers + up who have calendar blocks all day long and are constantly in “busy” mode? It makes it almost impossible to schedule necessary meetings bc it’s never clear when there is an actual conflict, and I try to avoid pinging questions when someone’s in red mode to be respectful of them being in a call or needing to focus but when it’s all day I just have to ignore it. My boss the general manager is setting me up at work. She is saying all this stuff about me that is not true at all. But when I come into her shift or come into my shift after hers nothing is done for me. A lot of the prep is not done. And she complains about me not doing the prep. Stuff Is still dirty. One day she left the grill on. Etc. There was another manager there training to run another store and she said I basically do a lot of the work while she doesn't do much. So she stood up for me.

My Obgyn is offering weekly classes that range from “childbirth” to “infant cpr” and mom/dad “meet and greets”. Outside of the cpr one which seems important, did anyone attend classes and find them useful? Or did not attend classes and wish they had? So I had my NIPT and NT scans last week and I’ve been getting pieces of the results back from my doctor in the patient portal. All seems okay but I’m a bit confused. Does anyone know if FirstScreen is the same thing as NIPT? I was under the impression that NIPT was in 90th percent of certainty for Down syndrome but the result we got, labeled FirstScreen indicate 83% certainty so I’m confused if there are more results coming? I messaged the doctor but haven’t heard back yet.

So I’m 32 weeks. I’m finding it very difficult to breathe and it’s hard to explain. I have normal pregnancy congestion especially at night but throughout the whole day too when I breathe (not congested or through my mouth) it feels like my lungs don’t take in enough oxygen and I don’t feel like I’ve actually taken a breathe, if that makes any sense at all. I’ve also been choking a lot recently not sure if related. Anyone else or am I just weird?
