What's a guilty pleasure you indulge in at work?
Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???

Now is not the time to be the sassy associate. Tread lightly. Very lightly.
Think it largely depends on what the emails are about and your relationship with the partner. If the emails are a critique of your work product, it may be worth replying that you have questions about their feedback and setting up an in-person meeting to discuss. If the emails are more about firm protocols, consider referencing the firm’s policy if you believe you’re in the right and asking for additional clarification from the partner.
I agree with Attorney 1. It definitely depends on your relationship with the particular partners and the context. I’m a 4th year associate and pick my battles but do counter when appropriate. In being assertive, I believe I’ve harnessed more respect and a collegial attitude from the managing partner. (Although I’ve had a few whoops moments lol). Before you send the response, wait an hour and come back to it. Make sure the tone is professional and consider how delicate many lawyers’ egos are.
It's "toe," buddy.

Touchy. On one hand, you want to own the negative feedback (nothing worse than someone who won’t acknowledge errors) but on the other you don’t want to give ammo to whoever is trying to lay a paper trail. I think a response that acknowledges and owns the negative feedback and that explains the rest can be well received if tactfully done. I’m afraid on this one the devil is in the details and without more context it’s hard to give better advice. Also food for thoughts, in this environment no one needs a paper trail to justify layoffs. Maybe some paranoia at play?
