How do you travel, and focus, and perform, and do your job when your relationship and world at home is falling apart?

Compartmentalize. Had to with my divorce - pushed it to back of mind and responded to lawyer emails after hours

Think about life when the troubles are over. See a counselor if you want to make relationship work / even if counseling doesn’t work, it will ease you out and then you can move on to new adventures with someone who is better for you

Ironically my best performing year, was when my personal life was falling apart. I focused on work to ignore feelings/thoughts. Definitely not the best to keep the relationship, but I knew it was over. It was a matter of not wanting to deal with it. Stay strong!

Jesus don’t listen to those first guys at all. What helps me is not to take life & work so seriously. If you are smart enough to be a consultant, you’re hirable at any other company in the country. Switch jobs if it makes you happier 👍🏼

A1 I think OP is saying sig other is asking for divorce. Try to work it out obviously, but I wouldn’t give up a good job if not necessary

You can’t, you need to take some time off and address the issues at home first

Have you decided where your priority is/isn’t? If you have given up on your relationship and need to focus on performing well at your job, then YES listen to the people up top who compartmentalized and focused only on work. If you want your relationship to work more than you want your current job (you can get another one), then prioritize your relationship and do well enough at your job to keep it until you find another one. Jobs aren’t everything.
