I left. Got a new role in another function within the company and left. Made sure he was reported to HR and he was fired. Note that he already had multiple HR cases against him before he eventually got fired.
You don’t… there are too many open opportunities right now to stay in a position like that.
The best option is to leave. There's no use trying to change them. Remove yourself from an environment that stifles your growth. My heart goes out to those who are experiencing this right now. You deserve better
When working for a narcissist… you have to have iron boundaries about what role the job plays in your life and for how long.

I don't. I simply don't work for manipulative bosses. I get out as soon as I see the first sign. If you have the ability, remove yourself from environments like that. I swear, they don't change and will only make matters hard for you.

I’ll take a different perspective on this: I love working with manipulative leaders. Because once you figure out their motivations (usually money, power, prestige) then it is easy to figure out how to make them happy.
Are you OK in the head? Do you know what a manipulative leader is? They have no motive than to gaslight you and set you up for failure so they can pile the blames for their incompetence on you. I'm shocked to see this from a HRBP. You must be one of those bad people leaders sheesh!
Get outta there!
