I would simultaneously focus on networking and building strong connections while also seeking your PMP. You might get lucky and get hired in the meantime, but either way you'll be setting yourself up for much better success.
Networking is a HUGE part of it. I would network as much and as often as you can. Connect with folks over on Linked in as well.
If you don't have any work experience as a project manager you won't be able to get a PMP. There are work requirements that total I think 4800 hours or similar in a PM role doing things like schedule and risk management, etc.
Why don't you acquire experience first before getting the PMP. It will be a long shot not getting project management experience prior taking up the course.
Most project management opportunities require pmp certification. I’ve seen very few that didn’t require it. Kind of made me wonder how I could get a project management job with certification and can’t get certification without experience.
I’ve worked in practice transformation and practice management the entire time between.
