How does a partnership in a consulting LLP work? Once a person makes partner is there a loan that is provided to buy preferred stocks/shares in the company OR is it just handed away as a part of comp?

Looking for advice: I make ~$250K now, and my gf makes about the same. For her upcoming 30th birthday, she really wants a $6K handbag. Is that an unreasonable ask?
