How does a person not get tired of public accounting always wanting more, more, more? Can’t even take a day of vacation and feel good about it. It’s a double edged sword for me because I’m very driven and career focused but damn this is always killing my vibe.

For me it’s taken recognizing that my thoughts about in come in waves. Some days are good some days are bad, just like any job I imagine.

I think that’s why careers are so short! Not meant for very many to make it that long but the firms just try to hide it lol

Same here lol. As I was getting my cpa framed I was wondering whether or not I’d still be in accounting in 5 years, much less at the same firm.

It has its moments… there’s no job out there that’ll feel good 100% of the time. All about making sure it’s a good fit and then making the best of it.

This is me right now. But I’m really struggling to figure out what a wise next step would be.

Hello All, Looking to learn how California employers are capping accrued vacation. Say accruals increase with years of service and at 10 years an employee accrues 4 weeks per year, versus at 1 year an employee accrues 2 weeks per year. What is the cap for the 1 year (2 weeks) versus the 10 year (4 weeks)? For example, do you cap at 1.5x across the board? Or, does the accrual cap change?

When you’re planning for PTO, do you ask your managers if it’ll be okay to take time off those dates or do you just give them kind of a heads up?

Hi everyone! I recently accepted a new job with a Big 4 and am also newly engaged. I have a couple of concerns… the main one being that I may not have enough time off for 2022 to cover taking off for the wedding, honeymoon, and then a couple of other weddings where I’m supposed to be a bridesmaid. Do you think there would be any wiggle room with managers allowing time off, or is it generally pretty strict? (Continued in comments)

Joining Strategy&/PwC soon but have a pre planned vacation. Recruiter had mentioned that it shouldn't be a problem and we can talk as we get closer to joining date to finalize. Has anyone been in the situation before and what do you recommend I do? I'm worried that once onboarded, I won't get my vacation approved
