^ the only correct answer
Only firm of the three referred to by an acronym. Bain? McKinsey? No. BCG

Make sure you tell them how much you love working in Boston. Talk about the Charles River and the North End…recruiters would love that you know so much about them.
Rising Star
Their reputation is that they are nerdier and more academic than the other two.
More PhDs > more data driven analysis > denser lengthier reports. "Say nothing that you can't empirically prove".
This is opposed to McKinsey that will make very bold statements in a presentation that is a grand total of 5 slides of mostly white space, then say "trust us, we did the analysis with our proprietary algorithm".
I'm not insulting either firm. I'm just saying what it looks like from the outside.
Damn, maybe BCG is the move then
The fact that you’re writing a cover letter is already not a good sign. It’s not necessary.

They are all the same
McK - stuffy suit wearers (Resevoir Dogs), cult like, shady like Deloitte.
BCG - stuffy suit wearers. Non-criminal nerds.
Bain - frat bros but youll enjoy your job better than literally every other company as rated annually.
They have a very dark side that they take great pains to hide
Nerds
Based on the comments here, be bold: say that you like to stay curious and push boundaries by thoughtfully taking risks - something you believe they must do at BCG to stay at the forefront. “To convey this spirit, I am hoping to hear back if anyone actually makes it this far into reading cover letters! Look forward to discussing this plus more during the interview process.”
If you are at BCG (or not) and think I’d be a good fit based on my fishbowl cover letter, give me a like lol

I’d throw u an interview
No need to overthink cover letters. Mine ended up relatively generic. I could swap out “BCG” with any other firm, and no one would have noticed.
Sitting on the other side now, I barely read cover letters unless I’m very on the fence based on their CV. And why they are applying to green or blue is not what will cinch the deal

Cover letters are pointless and won’t be read
