How does domain/topic lock work when you're at the partner level? Are there any real opportunities to rebrand/reskill in the marketplace at the more senior levels, or are you locked in at that point?

Doesn’t feel hard for me, particularly as I lead several client relationships. Because I lead those relationships I’m both asked to make sure I stay current on new offerings topics my firm is offering and I have the opportunity to lean in when we execute projects with other partners on topics I’d like to make closer to my personal expertise.

Depends. We are of course SMEs on something, as that is how we go here - but I have found it invigorating to try new things and spend time doing fun stuff like mentoring staff. The one thing I heard most when going through the partner process from very senior partners was they “loved making new partners” so your perspective is going to change as you proceed in your career and opportunities to refocus/rebrand yourself will always be there too.

Cont: I've been thinking a lot about the flexibility in topics and reskilling available to us as consultants, but am feeling pressure within the firm to focus on engagements where I have a proven skillset as I advance to manager, etc. Wanted to see how it feels at the top.
