How does it look if one moved from one PA firm to another? Both within the big 4 and from big 4 to mid market firms.. will you lose all your work 'friends' from former job..

Work friends are lost when you no longer work with them. Otherwise, they'd be friends. Duh

like

If they're your friends and you are still in the same city, I don't see why you can't be friends

You get new work friends. You keep some real friends. I did it. Not that hard.

What if you moved to a competitor, same service line? Bad blood, getting looked down upon? Just wondering the norm

No one cares if you move firms. Some people will stay in contact and the others you will lose touch with. Definitely harder to stay in touch but it is possible. I moved firms about 6 months ago and just try to make sure we schedule happy hours to stay in touch.

Your true work friends stay actual friends after you leave any job. The rest are just the people you fraternize with.

It doesn't look bad if you move. People move between firms all the time. If you lose your work friends, you were never really friends. It happens all the time. Sometimes it's hard to stay in touch, even being in the same city due to different schedules but if they don't make an effort or anything and you have, you likely were just coworker acquaintances and not friends like you thought. Same happened to me and many others. Life goes on.

Where to start. Sitting here contemplating life after a sixer and wondering why I keep getting to this place. I make my family scared of me and push my wife and kids farther away while I think everything is ok.I can stop drinking when I need to focus on work, but when things get out of control I just drink it away. Tired of this cycle but unsure where to turn, but I know if I continue down this path it won’t be good. I am a vet and think I have PTSD, but turn to the bottle when needed

I've been working remotely for the past two years, and it's been great. I love working from home and being able to watch my kids grow up through their eyes as they play around me. But sometimes, when you're in this kind of situation, it's hard to know what to talk about with your coworkers.

Currently an associate with two years of experience. Recently received a B4 offer for senior. How should I approach negotiating? Should I do it? It’s my only offer so idk how much leverage I have.

I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

My mother-in-law says he’s worked on things, but it’s been 10 years of this and I’m not sure I want such behavior around my wife and our kids since we’re trying to conceive soon (cont).

Hi all,

Need some advice on my next career move. I'm 31, have an MBA and am currently a SC in Risk Advisory with no M&A experience. I am good at risk consulting work but don't find it very challenging or interesting. That said, I expect to get promoted to M next year.

Recently, I interviewed with another Big 4 firm for SC in CDD M&A team and have got an offer. I enjoyed doing the CDD case study, and I believe I'd do well in the role.

Does it make sense to start afresh in M&A at this stage?

All advices are welcome. Thanks

I'm planning to apply for other positions for Pwc and EY in different countries in Europe, but now Im scared of this "database" because it might show to recruiters the wrong idea that I'm desperate (?). Help 😰
