How does living in LA compare to a place like NYC? Never lived in the US before, I’m coming from Canada. Which city is better?

Would you join a company that was recently acquired by a private equity group, who also plans on selling the company soon? My initial concern is that the new acquirer could replace the (very small) legal team upon acquisition. But is that unlikely? Any other concerns or issues that I should watch out for or ask about before accepting the job?

Considering trying to make a pivot. Currently a prosecutor. I have a lot of trial experience and did some ID work. Are there any logical roles aside from just litigation to keep an eye on as for as in house? I’ve been thinking there must be some applicability to the investigation skills I’ve developed but I don’t know what the move should or would be. I am coming from a place of ignorance - not sure what would suit my background.

I graduated with a degree in Business in 2018. I’m planning to pursue a Masters in Engineering (likely will pair with MBA) and have been taking the required pre-reqs over the last year from community college.

Is there a big difference between MEng and MS degrees? Or about the same?

I started off looking in going into Mechanical Eng but now looking more into Civil & Environmental.

Is anyone here willing to provide insight about job prospects between the two fields?

Often times, I’m amazed with how many smart and talented people I work with. I feel like an imposter and that I don’t belong in these meetings doing all this work I don’t really understand. And then my MD confesses to me that they don’t really understand the technical stuff our team works on. They’ve been faking this longer than I have and they’ve made it. That’s reassuring.

Has anyone recently renewed their Indian passport in the U.S? I went through the instructions on the embassy website and VFS Global. Seems like I have to apply with the government and then again with VFS before sending all required docs and original passport via mail to NY embassy. Any tips / suggestions to make this a stress free process? Have upcoming travel to india so hoping it goes through smoothly.
