I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

Does MBB take experience hires 1-2 years out of undergrad for entry level consultant positions or is it only direct from university?

Looking for advice…I’m currently 26 and a SC doing government consulting. Not sure if I want to do this forever, and I just finished my MBA at the end of June. My boss is pushing me up for Manager this year, but I’m trying to debate if it’s worth staying for the manager title, or if I should try to leverage my new degree and jump out into industry. I’m a trust officer, 4 years experience. My new company stated that I was required to complete trust school within 3 years of hire. However, I’ve been given advice from people I trust that a CFP certification would be better. I am a licensed attorney so I could take the Capstone course and finish the CFP cert quicker. Is there anyone who has worked for MBB before joining Deloitte? I took the plunge- I was in the Knowledge Consulting track (so, same hours, same work, half pay compared to integrative) with McKinsey, joined Deloitte about 6 months back... But things seem such lower quality compared to pretty much everything McK. And this stretches from the quality of solutions, to D's ability to counsel clients,to the benefits package AND to back office processes.

Is this expected?Or am I doing something wrong?

If you are a 32 year old Manager at consulting firm does it make sense to start as a Consultant or Associate at MBB? I am trying to understand if it makes sense to go a level down just for a more prestigious firm.
