I have an offer from Capco, it was much lower then I expected for the SC level EA at £80k. I'm at a stable role at a bank with a great WLB. My wife is a front line work. So I can take care of the baby, with the next coming soon. My dilemma is, become a consultant or stay where I am at. Consulting looks attractive as I would be speed up my career progression. Though the travel costs and child care does not warrant the base salary Capco Should I take the hit and join capco?
What will be mine take home salary?
Hey Fishes, Please help me decide the best offer on basis of job security, wlb and culture, I need to decide it ASAP, your help would be highly appreciated.

Thoughts for a upscale networking event
I’ve done it. Start the conversation early, remain relatively objective and calm, and come with facts. Give your manager space to do diligence but keep them accountable by setting a clear follow up timeline for a decision.
Biggest mistake I see (besides not asking) is people first asking for the raise right when comp decisions are happening. You’re generally too late at that point.
100% agree on the timeline factor - accountability is absolutely key, otherwise it's easy to put off and prioritize the pushier people (even though that's unfair) but I've seen that happen too many times
I think the least cheesy, needy way of doing it is to show comparable salary data from other companies and say "I think it would be reasonable, looking at these numbers from other similar companies, to consider a pay increase of X"
Come prepared with data justifying why you deserve a raise. What metrics did you hit? How did you outperform your role?
Your boss will have to escalate the pay raise request to their boss. Your boss is a lot more likely to do this if you make their job easy & give them quantifiable measurements they can pass off to their boss.
Exactly this. It's not your manager really making those decisions - it's higher-ups and they are numbers-based.
Not a PM but had a friend who was able to get a raise by developing a portfolio of the work she has done and how it has positively impacted the bottom line of the company. Sell yourself!
