How does one determine their priorities in life? I pass a Porsche and think to myself ‘I could get a new Porsche every year if I stay until partner’ then minutes later think ‘I could have the Porsche but no wife or kids because I work so much’. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Haha. Love the post. To complete, if you have a wife and kids, you definitely can't afford a Porsche, period.

Lol what

I had to sit down and write down my priorities and slim down my interests to just a few. I was spread thin and spending too much money. My priorities are my family, my car, and my few hobbies. I still think about upgrading my car or getting a motorcycle, but I then refer to my list and remind myself of my priorities

You need about $800-1200 a month give or take to lease an entry level Porsche for the 918 - Cayenne etc. I could float that making $140k but would just have to slim vacations or something.

My old partner had a Porsche suv and also really great family, so, maybe just depends on the firm?

My husband really wants a Tesla

I determine my priorities based on what I believe matters in life and what I want to look back on fondly when I'm on my deathbed. For me, priorities are the people I love and serving the needy--orphans and widows and such

And you left public accounting? I didn’t grow up prizing matures possessions. Was just infatuated by partners rolling into my classes with their boujee suits and rolexes. I’ve been in it for 5 years and want to cry most days and I’m a dude who doesn’t cry normally.

Currently an A3 in audit. My team communicated to me that they’re pushing for me to get mid-year promo (Jan 2022) but I’m also interested in leaving to another Big 4 for AAS as an S1. Current salary is $73.6k and am unsure of how much I should be going for to make the jump worth it. I know EY FAAS offered a friend $85k in my market but assuming I get mid year promo I’m not so sure the salary bump would be significant enough. How much room for negotiation is there with Big 4 experienced hires?

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
