How does one go about firing a horrible contractor? I paid 25% upfront but haven’t paid the rest. I’d like to just fire them and cut my losses at the 25% but avoid any mechanics liens. Located in Texas

My H1-B expires on April 2022. My perm is currently in process and they are applying for H1B extension and H4 visa extension for my spouse. The immigration team said that they can apply for an H4 ead as well. Is that possible? My H1b visa started April 2016 on i-94 and and is stamped as start date April 2016. I have only been physically in the US for 5 years and 2 months. I am confused on how can they still file for an EAD? Am I missing something?

Currently submitted PERM and still waiting to hear back. If I get promoted to manager while I’m still waiting to hear back for PERM, do I need to restart my process as my title changed?

I got my Bachelors in Psychology a few years ago but I couldn’t find a position that seemed like a good option for me that was well paying and fulfilling. I tried working as a tech at an Applied Behavior Analysis clinic but it wasn’t a good fit. I’d like some help evaluating the best deal. Airbnb potential house/ back house in Texas (furnished for $570k) Airbnb would break even (~3600)and most of not all of mortgage while I live in the back unit. Turnkey but not sure about appreciation or value. OR triplex for $625k that generates 4500/month, it’s in a questionable street in an amazing zip code.

Contractor quoted me $11,000 to clean out a 3rd floor walk up attic of blown in insulation (25’x40’) includes removal of floor boards, vacuuming of blown in cellulose insulation, installation of fiberglass insulation, demolition of walls in a small (20x20’) and that’s about it. This is in Massachussets. Am I getting ripped off ?

My spouse and I are applying for a new mortgage and my lender looked up our credit scores and suggested that the mortgage is done only for me and not include my spouse as my score was in the top bracket. She is earning as well and i wanted to understand the risk of taking mortgage only on me:

My rental property (Multifamily) was targeted in a shooting. No one was injured but the neighbors sent an anonymous letter to sue (unless I take action) for bringing their home value down / placing “annoying tenants”. Tenants were placed by my property manager. Am I liable? I have not been contacted by authorities about the incident but am working to get as much information as I can.
