Hi fishes, I joined early of June in NTT DATA as a senior software developer. After few internal project interviews I been selected very soon into one project. Laptop was delivered to my home address but no work assigned. I asked multiple times my manager to raise a ticket to install required software like visual studio. Realistically, any offer made now is looking at a late August start date, realistically after Labor Day. so you’re adding a month. At the CD level, a little extra time shouldn’t be a big deal.
Ask politely but confidently. Say you need time to wind down existing work and take a short vacation.
You can just try to be honest and reasonable. Tell them what your earliest possible start date and state the reason why. I have waited 2 months before for a new director and it's fine because she was reasonable.
The only issue is if it's an urgent role. You might be kissing that offer goodbye if it is.
