I don't know about engineering interviews, but in UX interviews "How" you work through the task is often more important than the final solution you produce. Interviewers are looking at how you think through the problem, your knowledge, and your understanding of best practices. Also, often the questions you ask to clarify the task often reveal a lot about your knowledge and how you work. Think of it this way... your goal is to demonstrate that you are capable of doing the job as a whole, not just find a solution to the specific task.

Hmm, good to know. I wasn't aware of that. Certainly takes some pressure off.

I'm not a fan of timed tests, either, but it's par for the course, unfortunately. The best advice I can give is to keep practicing. The more you get used to working under pressure, the more comfortable you'll become. Best of luck to you!

Agreed - I don't love doing it but I understand it. You'll get better with practice and experience.

I think if you're not able to solve the problem in time, being able to explain your approach and intent should be sufficient. The theory and effort towards the solution are both important

I agree with the others, from what I've seen it isn't so much about getting the answer as it is understanding your process of getting to the answer. I definitely have messed this up in the past and was so focused on working it out, but now I think about verbalizing what I'm thinking and talking through stuff

You just need to practice. There are platforms that you can pay for to practice technical interviews under time restrictions.

Can any of you give an example of a timed test question. I’ve never done one, I’m curious how I’d do.

Hi. I have been working in Support for the past two years. I got recruited right out of college. My college interview was mostly Python based basic questions (as I had done some mini-projects based on Python). However, I got listed for ITIS and was placed in Support projects. I couldn't ask HR immediately as they strictly told no project changes will be given for atleast 1-2 years. However, I started learning in the official TCS learning portal. I have acquired Python competencies. (Continued)

Advice/experiences please. About 5 weeks pregnant and feel like total trash... basically like I have a flu (but 99% sure I don’t, it’s just the pregnancy). Could I or should I try to take some sick days? It feels like that should be an option (esp now with covid and unlimited sick days) but I feel like I never hear of anyone doing this. I also don’t want to tell my work what the “sickness” is. I just finished a project so no one is relying on me right this second. What would you do?
