How does short term disability work? I'm trying to find a document that explains how much time is offered as paid leave through STD for maternity vs. bonding with newborn etc.

Typically you have to use 5 sick days as a waiting period before STD starts. Once the STD kicks in, you typically get 6-8 weeks (depending on vaginal or c-section delivery) paid through the insurance program. Then any paid parental leave from your employer kicks in after that. Talk to your HR or Benefits person who should be able to help.

Each company has different policies in my experience. My current company requires STD be taken prior to using maternity leave. There should be a document within your company’s internal webpage that breaks it down

You mean short term disability after you give birth? It’s 4-6 weeks, 4 for vaginal birth, 6 for c-section.

There you go- diff firm by firm and/or state by state. Not THAT diff though..

Each company is different. I would ask your HR.

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

If you work at a small agency in NYC, could you tell me what your monthly health insurance premiums are for families? Reading online i learned that i could be pregnant and just need the hcg levels to build up for a positive test. But last night, I had the worst cramps and now have light bleeding, and some clots 😭... this whole process is such an emotional rollercoaster.. has anyone else had a similar experience? I think this could be an early termination but not sure.

Asking for advice: Hi ladies, how do you tell your SO that you want private time with your friends/colleagues? For context, my SO and I have been living together for 2 years. He doesn’t have a lot of friends and is a quiet type. His current friends are all our mutual friends. We do enjoy spending time just us two a lot, especially during this pandemic. However, I do have a group of colleagues/friends that I’m close to and usually prefer to hang with them seperately. (cont. in comment)

What is a useful, comprehensive but not too long of a book for parenting toddlers?

LO is 16 months old, very sweet and social, at the park every day with other kids with either me or her nanny. Not in day care. Yesterday we had a play date and she slapped another baby on the head. Not hard and did not scare her, but the act of “aggression” took me by surprise and I felt terrible about it. Hi Moms. I’m 4.5mo postpartum with my first, and I’m having incredible feelings of resentment toward my husband, who I love dearly and with whom I’ve always had a great relationship. It feels like he’s not factoring me or the baby into his decisions (e.g. going on a 4d boys trip, attending big events), while I’m left with the consequences. My mat leave is ending, and he’s now sick with COVID. He’s quarantining at my in-laws while I return to work and take care of baby. I’m so frustrated… (cont.)

A month ago I gave my boss a formal letter requesting a review of my current job duties and a salary adjustment and title change. I’m performing at a senior level and not being paid for it. She agreed with the argument and submitted request to HR. Last week I asked her for an update and she casually said it will probably take three more months bc HR is so backed up and dropped it. I’m grossly underpaid and getting more tasks daily. What can I do? Can this be retroactive? I’m so fed up.
