How does someone find an HR mentor? I could really use one and I haven't the slightest idea how to go about it.

I reached out to my previous manager who retired 3 years ago. She really helped me a lot. You can also do the same thing if you know someone. Don't hesitate. They'll gladly help you.

I’ll DM you to connect! I’d love fellow HR peers or mentors 😊

Looks like you may have found one. If not, I always think leaning on your network is the first thing to do. Reach out and see if there are any old alumni from your university working in HR. Or see if there are any industry-related groups or social events you could join. Best of luck.

Do you have an old HR manager or colleague you still keep in touch with?

I’ll. W your mentor. I have 11 years in HR and the last 7 in benefits

Your tenured colleagues can help you. Someone in your team should help you to learn. It may not be their responsibility, but it is a part of teamwork.

Got the confirmation from lti saying that i have cleared all the rounds as senior BA. Since i received confirmation from them i have opted out of all the other offers. But now the recruitment team is saying that the requirement is on hold, we can't release an offer letter. This is very bad as i am not struck with out any offer and my LWD in my organization is 11 dec

Cut the strategy department from an agency with strategic creatives. Is there a difference? Probably not. Strategy is being treated like a studio, more meetings more money. But that means less creative time. That means less creative development. And from my POV, strategy kills more time than aligns any type of strategy.

👋🏿 I need some referrals. I have a podcast with a small but consistent following (1500 unique listeners a month). I need to accelerate awareness and trial. I have no social media strategy and my website needs a refresh. I’m a very small business that is in the red still and my budget barely exist but I know I need to invest in order to grow and become profitable. 🤦🏿‍♀️ Are there agencies that work with people like me. If yes, please refer them.

Looking for Advice: I am an HR Associate at a midsized company. I was just informed that our HR Generalist put in their resignation. My boss (HR Director) let me know that I am going to be taking on more responsibilities (previous responsibilities of the Generalist role). I’m wondering… should I request a role change or ask for a bigger salary/more compensation? What is appropriate in this situation?
Any advice is appreciated. :)

My CEO is looking to tighten up our work from home program and get people back into the office more. Most are out 3 to 4 days a week. It's not that they aren't working, but we are missing the energy you get as a collective. I suggested 3 days in office 2 days out and the 3rd week of the month is a hell week, everyone is in 5 days!!! (Of course i wouldn't say that publicly, just for the explanation of this scenario) Any suggestions. I would love to know if anyone else is in a similar situation

I am a Senior People (HR) Business Partner working in NYC under an H-1B visa (9 years of experience). I am looking for something new, but I am finding it extremely difficult to find a company who would support an H-1B Change of Employer (COE). I either get declined immediately as part of the application process or get told the company does not support visa sponsorship for non-tech roles. Any tips, tricks, or great companies where an H-1B COE would not be an issue?

Has anyone been successful at getting back sign on bonuses after a layoff? My C suite is pushing me to contact continuously more than 10 former employees who were laid off months ago for bonuses over $15k each. I feel so unethical/uneasy doing this, they have me lawyer rate shopping and are willing to sue the get the money back. I told them chances are slim of getting the money back. This is the tip of the iceberg. There’s more. Trying to get out of here asap, otherwise I’m going on STD.

Severance question. I was laid off from my last company and luckily found something a week after being let go. My old company found out I got a new job from my LinkedIn and now wants to take my severance away "because I don't need it anymore and it's not a good look for the company paying someone severence when they are employed somewhere else." This is after the Severence Plan Agreement was signed but before it has been paid out. Is this a normal practice this companies and laying people off?

I was just hired as HR Generalist/department of one/first HR hire for a small start-up. First week in and I find out that previous COO is in rehab and has made some some egregious promises around comp, additional benefits to EEs, and also made some decisions that cost the company a significant amount of money. Company has offered to pay for 2 months leave. Now it seems like owner and other execs do not want this person to return. What do I need to consider regarding termination? Is ADA at play?

I’m interviewing for a Talent Acquisition internship at a large tech company (~5,000) and I’m feeling a bit iffy about the position. My initial impression was that it involved front-end recruitment, interviews, sourcing but it seems to be more back-end, operations & systems oriented. The job desc. is vague and I believe Talent Acquisition Operations Intern is more fitting since it’s more of a technical position - is this a big difference & will the TA intern look less technical on my resume?

HR insight needed 🙏 my boss set a standing weekly meeting with me and I’m often stood up. Sometimes he apologizes later but often not. Sometimes it’s because he has booked another 1-on-1 team meeting over that time (so he saw it in his calendar). Eg: He’s standing me up now even though we’re both in the same small office AND I emailed+slacked earlier to confirm his availability (no answer).
It’s hard to NOT think this is intentional.
What might a professional, healthy response be to this?

I think he would like to get back into sales/account management but looking to see what everyone’s advice would be in terms of type of roles and companies to go after!
