If radical leftwing protests destroy cities and places of employment, then Trump will benefit.
The initial police incidents and the protests are happening in cities led by Democrats and many of these cities are in states with governors and legislatures which are majority Democrat.
So federal is one thing but the down ballot is as or more important

Sure but it isn’t me saying he isn’t a Democrat, it’s just an objective fact. He is a sitting Senator and he isn’t a Democrat. AOC and some others will echo similar sentiments.
There is a difference between Liberal and Democrat. Many Democrats aren’t actually liberal and aren’t advocating liberal policy.
Trump has done a lot of terrible things, mostly terrible things really, but there are a handful of good things. The criminal justice reform passed was truly significant and people who should have been at home, got to go home. Van Jones should be getting high fives from Democrats, not shunned.
We are consultants here which basically means we structure and identify ways to solve problems. You work with people who have different roles, responsibilities, values, priorities and backgrounds, to work back from what you want to achieve. Pitting Red vs Blue as a means to an end, which is much of what I am reading, isn’t just unproductive, it doesn’t make any sense.
Tribalism isn’t actually about solutions or change. We don’t actually want liberal or Democratic solutions, we want justice and structual reforms that provide for a more just society. The path to get there will vary by state and city and should be about the solutions themselves.

Hopefully pulls for a 3rd party. Two party system needs to die.

Based on my anecdotal conversations and interpretation of the undercurrent, this doesn’t help Trump. I think the majority of people recognize that radical change is needed. And I think we can all agree that Trump won’t be the one to bring it.

I see this as unwittingly making the election a 'law and order' election. It will help Republicans by drawing in the elderly, women and suburban voters.

😆 yes, please stay home, but to be honest I was hoping bernie would have won the nomination. I think picking Biden just means to a return to norm. Might as well try something new.

Both parties don’t represent the average American person. Both parties are in the pockets of corporations and the people who benefit from the current system.

And then he woke up and realized the world wasn’t perfect... so he stayed home and buried his head in the sand as he knew that nothing he did was ever going to directly change anything.
I feel like this will balance out the murder of George Floyd for many right wing voters. In other words, those who would have voted left after that incident will go back to the right. You should see right-wing media (FB, YT, etc)- the riots are ALL they are talking about
I don’t care whether it’s another right (just not DJT) or left, as long as it’s someone who can bring the country together and finally LEAD. I’m for it.

I don’t want to vote for Trump, but Biden doesn’t look like a good fit either. But if I don’t vote, that means I am voting for Trump🥺

Yeah, this is probably the most important VP pick I have ever witnessed. Huge implications on the election.
I am more moderate but will probs vote for Biden for prez but republican everything else. Think trump is too divisive and only amplifies the divide but don’t agree with how a lot of democratic leadership is dealing with this at a state and local level.
This is just my opinion tho if you were looking for that
@EY 3. When voting Republican for everything else will you be voting for only Republicans that don’t support/enable Trump or will it not matter? Asking because there don’t seem to be many around, as getting through the Republican primary seems to require showing loyalty to Trump. Which Republicans leaders at the state and local level do you see actively working against Trump’s divisiveness? Do you think the Republican Party will deal fairly with a Biden presidency? To what extent has Trump’s divisiveness permeated the party at the state and local level, and to the extent it has, do you think it will dissipate in the face of a loss by Trump? Really would like to have your perspective on the above.
I am generally biased towards center-left/left policies, but mostly just want things that work given the fact pattern on the ground. That only happens if there are two functioning parties actually debating policy.
Would expect this to shift the balance slightly in favor of republicans. No data, but my hypothesis would be that there is a significant unspoken segment of the population more concerned with safety from riots and violence than racial justice - especially outside urban centers.

A2 - I never said that I didn’t think the cops killing Floyd was horrible. Can be upset about that and upset about 6 grown men beating the snot out of someone and robbing him while he is unconscious on the ground.
Yep
Sup, Donald
In possibly trumps worst week as president (China bout to take over the world, unemployment at great depression levels, coronavirus, all of the awful and stupid things he said on Twitter) this swings votes wildly back to him unfortunately because burning cities and re-infecting everyone doesn’t help economy or appeal to suburban voters who otherwise hate him

You are sick in the head if you vote for this man to wreak havoc on our country for another 4 years

I think as a general rule, the more economic problems there are and the more unrest, the more likely the incumbent is to be removed...doesn’t matter at all who nor does it matter whose “fault” it is. So I’d say the current environment is a very real problem for trump and it’s reflected in recent poll movement.

Also, Biden will be 78 a couple weeks after the election. It’s not like he’s suddenly going to get better or more stable as he gets into his early 80s. Absent true executive responsibility, some people were willing to overlook his weaknesses because he didn’t really need to do anything - now that the economy is in the tank again, some have to be wondering if he is really the guy to lead us out of this, even considering the racial tension of the last few weeks.
😐 I will still vote for Biden but your argument is one of the weakest to stand on
Who knows

I think it exacerbates the way entrenched voters on either side are already feeling.
The question is will suburban moms, who voted for Bush in ‘04, and prefer security, opt for the party of law & order (historically speaking)?

I think this actually benefits trump now. The news has been away from coronavirus. Any spoke of cases that we have he can easily blame it on the protesters. We may have high unemployment but if the stock market doesn’t crash(they are propping it up) people won’t think as negative or the economy as long as their 401Ks are still in tact.
